I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I was looking for a salon for my 14 year daughter, who was getting her hair braided for the first time. After reading some reviews on a few other salons, I thought about canceling the whole idea. Then, I came across Ami and her reviews were very reassuring. My daughter was able to get her hair done in only three hours. They took very special care of her and treated her like she was their own daughter. They kept checking on her throughout the whole process, to make sure she was ok and that her hair wasn't too tight. Everything came out beautiful and my daughter loves her hair. She is looking forward to going back.

When getting box braids and choosing a style, pricing is all based on the size of the braid and length of the hair. They charged me for long medium braids (she braided the first braid in the back to show me how big they'd be)...total scam. I ended up with medium braids in the crown of my neck and the braids got bigger and bigger and the front ended up being twice as big as the ones in the back. And may i add....so so heavy. Too heavy to put up in a ponytail. I showed the stylist the style i wanted several times and left the salon very disappointed. She just braided my hair the style she felt like that day. Another big negative was that I kept asking her to not braid so tight because I was tender-headed. She did the first few rows in the back okay and the front very tight...and had no sympathy for my comfort and my edges. When I got home, I also noticed that they braided the hair shorter than promised. The only pros are that they are first come first serve so no appts required for last minute situations. The salon is located in a fairly safe location where you don't have to worry about parking your car or a meter. Would I go back? No thank you. I didn't get what was promised to me and paid for. I am left with having to take Advil for several days, not being able to turn my neck because it hurts so bad and with a style that I can't wait to take down.

I brought my 14yr old daughter here because she wanted to try braids for the first time. I read several reviews from other places and they scared me to death. Ami's place was different. The women were personable but focused on braiding. They never took a break. My daughter was out in 5hrs and she said her scalp felt great. Although the floors could use a good sweeping the place is air conditioned with a lavatory for the customers use.
