I have been going to Studio Barcellona for several years now and I have never had a bad experience. Philip is a talented hair stylist and he is very focused, and takes great pride in his work. He pays close attention to detail and has always been able to create the look and style that I am seeking. The salon is spotless and beautifully decorated. His assistant Sao is excellent. He also sells a variety of jewelry that is reasonably priced. I highly recommend this salon!

I've always thought it never mattered what barber or stylist cut my hair – It's baby-fine and full of cowlicks. Add to this, I'm all pepper & salt now and the two contrasting colors seems to be in a constant duel; sort of 'fly-away vs. barbed-wire'. Mind you, I work in the commercial photo industry and over the years I've had some pretty high-priced stylists hit my scalp after a day of making the pretty people on set presentable. It often looked quite good, for 2 days that is. Well, 2 WEEKS ago Philip cut and styled my hair and not only did it look unbelievably great when he had finished (good lighting and product aside), i think it looks even better now ! In fact the other day at a client meeting I got some major ego-boosting comments about it. That's NEVER happened before. Did i mention ? – I don't use a blow drier nor spend any time on it at all. I towel dry and go at it with a few fingers of product Philip recommended and showed me how to use. Another thing – Studio Barcellona is a beautifully designed place that also sells some very special gift items. I bought my wife a really unique piece of art jewelry for Mother's Day. I guess I don't need to say it but . . . I'll be back. Antonio

In this economy, I pick and choose my pleasures carefully. How delightful, then, to be able to combine that needed haircut with the feeling of being indulged. Philip, who is also an interior designer and an all-around aesthete, has thoughtfully put together a gorgeous, yet unpretentious space filled with unusual art, jewelry, pottery, hair and makeup products all for sale and all tastefully and creatively arranged. But the best part for me is that Philip is a master at what he does with hair. I moved away from Nyack 8 years ago and still make the trip from nyc to get my hair cut by Philip. I can do this because he does such beautiful work my hair looks great for four months or longer! I go about three times a year. Philip and his colleagues, David and Marisol, never forget that when you come into their space you want to feel cared for and indulged. They always make you feel special and are likely to offer you coffee, tea or even a splash of liqueur. Once I was in while Philip and a bride-to-be were planning her hairstyle. The mother was weighing in on what she thought would be nice, and Philip most politely and gently reminded her, "I need to hear what she wants in her words." My teenage daughter, who is extremely particular about her hair needs, trusts Philip absolutely. What more can I say? If you live in Nyack, you are missing a great value if you don't know about this place, and if you don't, it may very well be worth the trip--parking is easy. Plus there's a great little patisserie just down the street with yummy croissants.
