In the past, Alex has cut my hair once and I had no complaints. My hair was long layers, very thick and in good condition. I recommended Alex to my niece and we went together for an appointment last week. Her cut was to be a short bob tapered at the back of her neck. Mine was to be short layers and I provided a photo of what I wanted. Neither cut went well.
My niece’s hair is longer on one side, there’s a chop line visible on the other side, stray long hairs not cut and it wasn’t tapered at the neck. There is a missing “chunk†on one side as well.
It goes from bad to worse. I was upset when I left the appointment. My style was nothing like I asked and looked extremely amateur once I brushed it out and discovered all the flaws. The layers are a complete disaster. Alex also added a side bang once the hair was curled, not straightening it out to cut. With many of the layers, its long where it should be short and short where it should be long. The sides do not blend into the layers in the back. The side bang gives more of a mullet appearance than a bang. To say I am upset is an understatement. I called two days later to voice my displeasure (such a mild word for how I felt). I gave Alex the benefit of the doubt and returned for a second appointment. He snipped and snipped and snipped reducing my disaster to yet another disaster, reducing me to tears, literally. I couldn’t believe how much hair I had sacrificed only to have this horrible mop on my head. Alex decided to call in the reinforcement and asked his boss/owner of the salon (Stephen) to help. Stephen snipped away, coaching Alex and assured me they would ensure I was happy with my hair. I showed him the photo of what I wanted only to be admonished the photo subject had hot rollers .... I’m in a SALON! You can’t replicate ... even a little? I assured him I didn’t expect duplication but through my 5 decades of many many layered hair styles I know what works and what doesn’t for my hair. This cut doesn’t, but would if done properly. Upon completion I return home, brush it out and low and behold.... still a disaster. Now it’s jagged, long/short instead of layered and requires a ton of product to have a semblance of control.
Alex asked me to call to let him know how it worked out and I did just that. When I called today I spoke directly with Alex and he offered to fix it again. I respectfully but firmly let him know I cannot allow him that chance. I won’t have any hair left.
The called ended when Alex advised me the owner, Stephen, was arriving at 2 pm and would call to discuss. They know I’m upset (but civil) and yet there’s been no call. In the interest of good customer service I would have expected a call at some point this afternoon. I’m left hanging and will have to pay another salon to fix this unmitigated disaster, as will my niece.
I have no complaint about the salon itself or quality of products. Alex has a wonderful personality but if you need a bob or layers .. be cautious.
