Update - I've changed my review to 5 stars. The owner emailed me after I posted my review to see what could be done to make my experience better. He then invited me to come in the next day (today) and he worked with me to give me a cut I liked. He shaped my hair while dry and wildly curly, washed then went over it again. The shaping he did really made a dofferdiff and I like the cut much more now. It's still very short but that can only be fixed with time. I felt so bad leaving the previous review but he didn't make me feel bad about it at all, told me I did the right thing. I will go back again. -------- I got a hair cut here yesterday and I hate it. I've never hated a hair cut before .The girl was very nice but she didn't do at all what I wanted. I cried myself to sleep last night. It's way to short and it is incredibly unflattering for my face. Immensely disappointed and won't return.

Very accommodating and knew what she was talking about (experienced). Efficient and friendly, and the best part was she was open on a Sunday!

I've been there once the place is a little out-of-the-way for me, but I was really happy with the haircut and the prices are reasonable. I'm about due for a second haircut from them and I am definitely going back.

Short story: I have cut my own hair for years (right now it's very long, so I don't just want someone to chop like crazy behind my head,.. shudders..), it always looks great but I really wanted to go get my hair done by someone else (also loving the idea of someone else washing my hair).. So I googled places in Ottawa, I depend a lot on other peoples reviews and I know there are others like me, the reviews helped me to make up my mind...so here you go. I went down for my appointment, was stuck in traffic so I called them, they didn't make me feel bad even one bit! I showed up 20 minutes late (sorry!) and I was shaking inside trying to describe to her what I wanted with this service, it's soooo hard to exactly describe hair styles, so I took my time and probably was babbling. Maria was warm, very welcoming and took the time to listen to me before she even picked up the scissors. I was cautious and told her that I'm nervous and I need her to be descriptive about what and when she's doing something..lol, she never made me feel rushed and was very attentive. ---shampoo, conditioning, massage, blow dry & style--- Maria listened to exactly what I wanted, made great suggestions and took the time to go slow and make me feel at ease during the whole process. My hair looks AMAZING! It's still long & beautiful, soft and I feel great.. Thank you Maria & Thank you Hair Boutique! I cannot vouch for the others, as some reviewers have, but I def suggest seeing Maria. I know I will be seeing her for sure! xoxo

Maria was so lovely - she was patient when I walked in with no idea what I wanted, and she was gentle and considerate during the cut, often checking in to ensure I was comfortable the whole time. I ended up taking 8/9" off, and I'm so glad Maria was the one to do it! Will definitely be back!
