I went there via verbal reccomendation from my mother in law. It is a wonderfully quaint space that looks like it gets a whole lot of regulars. The staff were absolutely wonderful, and the regular patrons greeted me like I was family come for a visit.
The big seller for me was Betsy. She is the owners daughter and has been styling hair for 20+ years. I first spoke with her on the phone and let her know I wanted a color touch up with a strip of pink down the side. She told me that they didn't do pink but she would run to the store to do it for me special.
This lady physically drove to a shop to purchase permanent pink hair for me the day before our appointment. She called me and told me she was sorry, the only permanent pink she could find was semi permanent, and that she didn't want to charge me for a product that would wash out after two showers.
So I arrive, am greeted extremely warmly "you must be victoria!". Betsy finishes up with a patron and immediately sees me for our 11:00 am appointment. She gets the color and we begin. After some light chatting and after my hair sets, my dark, and unruly hair decides it doesn't want to take the color. You can clearly see the difference between my old color and the new color (which was gorgeous btw).
Betsy would not let me leave the seat until she fixed it. She wasn't going to have me leave with imperfect hair. She painstakenly did the job over, working well passed closing, in order to ensure it was correct.
By the end, we both breathed a sigh of relief as my hair turned out perfect. She flung off her shoes and relaxed after being on her feet for so long.
For all the pros there were one or two cons (as all places have). The place is small ( I drove right passed it) and the parking lot can hold maybe four cars at most. Luckily there is a large automotive store right next to it, and I was able to park there and just walk 10 feet to the front door.
Secondly, they do not take credit card, which I was unaware of. However, Betsy was so wonderfully accommodating. She immediately apologized for not memtioning this when we were on thr phone and allowed me to run to the nearest ATM *AFTER WE WERE DONE * and get the funds to pay.
Oh, and if I didn't mention before, we had originally agreed upon $50 to do my hair. After four hours and four washes, several scoops of bleach and the original product that didn't take, she STILL only charged me $50 for all that work.
