My first visit to this salon quickly became my last. I walked in and asked a gentleman if I could get a quick trim without wetting my hair (as I was out for the day and my hair get frizzy). He quickly said "we can't, not if you want it done right". I understood, and if that is their policy, that was fine. I was ready to say, okay - no problem, when a woman walked quickly toward me and said "I can do it". I said, "oh, okay - so you don't have to wet it?", she said "I can do it". So, I thought cool, and she kindly showed me to a seat. After brushing my hair she sprayed my ends with water. All I thought was "okay - whatever, it's done - no big deal" (I didn’t complain). She asked me how much, and I said "just as little as possible of the dead ends". She then showed me about 3/4" and I said that was fine. She was very attentive and careful, and kind, which I appreciated. When she was done, the ends were still wet. I thought, "okay, no big deal - I'll dry it with my fingers". I left my husband behind to pay and went to run a quick errand. When I came back and DH was done waiting outside, he said my ends were curling up, so I thought "okay, I'll just ask if I can run a straightener through my hairâ€. When I walked in the gentleman saw me and said “you’re back again?â€. Then I asked “is it okay if I quickly run an iron through my hair?â€. He quickly reacted with a touch of attitude “Oh, we can’t do thatâ€. I said, “Oh, I can do it myselfâ€. He said “No, we can’t do thatâ€. Then I explained, you know I asked if you can do my hair without wetting it..â€. He jumped in and rudely said “you don’t want it done right?â€, and I said, “but she offered to and said she didn’t have to wet itâ€. He said, “well, we’ll have to charge you?†I must have looked surprised when he said “what do you expect me to do?â€, very rudely – with a raised voice. I just said “I guess I won’t be coming backâ€, and he said “that’s fineâ€. So I said, it won’t be fine when I review this on social media. He then rolled his eyes. I put my hair up and quickly walked away before I said more. If I was wrong at any point, or if I misunderstood, I accept that (which I’m pretty sure didn’t happen). What infuriated me was how he reacted toward me. Why couldn’t he say, “Oh, someone must have misunderstood the other, I’m sorry – how can we fix this for you?â€. That’s all customers ask, not to be treated as if we were a burden or an inconvenience, and maybe – just maybe a bit of respect. If I caught any of my staff treating a customer like this, they would be in my office having a serious talking to.
To top that off when I got home, I noticed she cut off at least 2†or more, and when I got home and checked my bank account, I saw the charge (DH’s fault for not noticing), and we were charged $63 (including tip) for a 5 minute trim and a man’s haircut.
This kind of service should never be tolerated.
