Lesson learned: Make sure the name of your stylist is mentioned in the positive reviews.
After reading so many positive reviews, I was very excited for my first cut at Salon Love today. I made the mistake of booking and not asking anything about my stylist - I'm honestly not picky about my hair and assumed anyone who worked there would be great. I can only assume that the stylist I received was in-training (or a student?) as she had to request help from not ONE, but TWO of her co-workers to assist in fixing the back of my hair.
I didn't ask for a complicated cut, just long layers and to keep the length. As a mom of 3 under 5, I (used to) wear my hair in a messy bun far more than I'd like to admit.
My stylist barely spoke to me, and just kept cutting and cutting with a puzzled look on her face. When she asked another stylist for help, she didn't explain to me what was happening (she just stood there in silence while I grew more and more anxious as we waited for the other stylist to finish with her client).
After the other stylists fixed the back of my hair, I was clearly disappointed, but I was not offered a discount, or even an apology or an explanation. She left me with hair that is too short for a bun, and is longer on one side than the other.
Not only was this the worst haircut of my life, but also the longest - an hour and fifteen minutes just for a simple cut.
I paid quickly (and tipped) just to get out of there asap, while the stylist kept asking if my hair was "ok". She then gave me a coupon for $5 off my next cut with her, which was pretty hilarious.
