Got a cut this afternoon. Right out of the gate, despite three pictures and a hand physically over the side of my head saying, "Don't cut here," followed again by, "Imagine I were wearing a hat and only cut what you could see below it" and then "We can always go a little higher, but please start really low" ...the first rip of the clippers went *exactly* where I said not to.
I've had my head for a long time, and I've leaned what kinds of things need extra mentioning, examples, and tip for the time and effort. I know that stylists can't read minds, and I know that it takes a few tries before you can feel like you're on the same page. But, I've had a handful of great cuts and a lot of Yeah, Yeah, Yeah: I Got This — followed by cuts like this.
A few of the details about weight here and there were handled reasonably well when I pointed to them in detail, but there was no real intuitive sense of what a sharp-looking classic fade might look like as I've gotten elsewhere. And, now that I've gotten home and seen the cut under better light than at the shop, there's a roughness in the details, and I'll keep looking elsewhere.
