My daughter found Senkay Natural Hair Studio online and we visited the studio 2-3 times before her wedding. She had a vision of how she wanted her wedding natural hair and Yesenia executed it perfectly! I was very impressed with her professionalism and attention to detail. Yasenia was awesome! Not only did she do the mothers of the bride (me, also natural) and groomâ€™s hair, she agreed to style my grand daughterâ€™s hair, on the day of the wedding, without any hesitation. Yesenia gave us her attention the entire day. She made sure my daughterâ€™s hair was perfect for her pictures and her vail was in place as she walked down the isle. My hair was in an updo and absolutely stunning...lots of compliments! Wedding hair is Yeseniaâ€™s passion and I highly recommend her! Our experience was awesome!

I have gone to Yesenia since March of 2011 and it has absolutely been the best decision I ever made. She really took the care my hair needed while I transitioned from my relaxer to my natural texture. My hair is healthy because of the clean plant based products she uses as well as her education on using a plant based diet to keep my hair consistently growing and healthy. She is not only a wonderful stylist but she is a teacher. She has taught me so much about my hair: its texture, styling techniques, and healthy maintenance. My favorite thing is her creativity and the unique styles she does on my hair. She knows what fits not only my face but my personality. She is truly the best and I could not have asked for a better stylist to take me on my journey of transitioning to being all natural!

I've been a client of Yesenia's since 2010. I had made the decision to transition to natural and she took her time to educate me on the best way to obtain and maintain healthy hair. My edges/temples were practically nonexistent and she devised a treatment plan to fill them in and now I can wear updo styles or have my hair pulled back without wondering about bald spots. Post-partum shedding left my hair in shambles (very thin) a few years ago. She did not jump to cutting it all off but recommended conditioning treatments and certain low maintenence styles that promoted hair growth and regeneration. My hair is back to a healthy state all around due to her care. She has an awesome spirit and is EXTREMELY professional. Her creativity allows her to create amazing styles for each individual...no cookie cut styles here. She respects your time and wishes, but will always give recommendations based on health and not what's in our what's cute. You won't be disappointed with her service.

I had a very bad experience when I went to Senkay Natural Hair Studio. What made my experience so bad was the fact that I went there and received an entirely different service then what I originally signed up to pay for. I originally wanted to get my hair washed, blow dried, and my ends trimmed. When I got there Yessenia washed my hair decided not to blow dry it and just cut my ends while my hair was still soaking wet. This was my first time I've ever been to natural hair salon and I let her cut my hair while still wet because she claimed to have 22 years of experience with natural hair so I just trusted her method of trimming dead ends (which I shouldn't have). When I went to her shop my hair was literally way passed shoulder length when stretched. Now my hair barely touches my shoulders now. This is my first time I've ever written a review for anything on the internet but I felt a deep need to write this review to warn other girls of 4C texture about my experience. I will most definitely not be using her services anymore. It blows my mind why I trusted her to cut my 4c hair while still wet. Any one with 4C hair knows that our hair strands shrink considerably when exposed to even moisture in the air. There was no way for her to know exactly where the damage on my hair strands stopped when my hair was still in its shrunken state. If she would have took the time to blow dry my hair our first like I wanted her to, she would have been able to see what parts needed to be cut and what parts did not need to be cut. I don't know if she didn't blow dry my hair because it would have took to much time or maybe because I arrived 10mins late because I got lost while trying to find the place. I honestly feel like she didn't blow dry my hair in order to save time since she had another client coming and I had arrived late. If that was the case she should have just let me know that there would not be enough time for a wash, blow dry, and trimming, and I would have gladly rescheduled. I will definitely NEVER go to Yessenia or a hair stylist who does not personally have 4C hair because many stylist do not know how to properly handle this specific type of hair with care. All I wanted was a simple trim and ended up getting a big chop. Yessenia literally cut half my hair off!! All my 4C naturals PLEASE BEWARE and don't be afraid to get up and leave or say something if a stylist does not want to give you the service you orginally wanted to pay for.
