Meghann Holland is the best color expert and stylist that I've ever worked with! I've been with her for 6 years (or is it 10?) And wouldn't even consider changing. I moved to Seattle last year and still come back to have a color/cut/chat whenever I can. From the get go all those years ago, she has been completely honest and transparent when offering opinions on what will (and won't) work with my hair. Her integrity won't allow for just going along without saying anything if she feels your vision won't work for you. That is the kind of expertise and guidance that is vital for a master stylist. The adjustments she makes to the plan, as she works to bring your hopes to life while honoring the reality of your natural skin color and face shape, are a testament to how much experience she has, how skilled she is at her craft, and her strength of character to enter into the space of disagreement for the sake of building trust and providing the best result. She explains steps very clearly before doing them, and welcomes any questions. She's taken me through myriads of colors, and l have loved each one. She is kind, understanding and communicative, and treats her clients with dignity and care. I'm so grateful to know her.

I think the salon has a number of talented professionals but the policies around setting and attending appointments are ridiculous. They insist on text messaging rather than answering the phone, which takes literally hours of back and forth if you’re new or have several processes. Even when I was supposed to call to give them my deposit (FIFTY PERCENT DEPOSIT? What?) they didn’t answer and instead sent me an automated text which I had to respond to asking them to call me back. Be sure to read their cancellation policies because wow, are they intense. I went to my appointment not feeling well today because I didn’t want to risk losing the money associated with not knowing more than 24 hours ago I was getting sick. To top it off, I have never been in more uncomfortable wash or style chairs in my life. A bent sheet of metal was not the move at the wash bowls, and I’d really like to have been able to lean back during my 2 hour appointment.

After searching years to find a salon that understands my curly hair I am happy to say that my experience at Alter Ego was wonderful. The wait time was short and I really liked the appointment system with the deposit as it made payment easier at the end. I have thin hair and some balding from alopecia and Brianna made me feel comfortable and talked me through what kind of cut and style would look and work best for me. Charlee was also awesome! The salon is bright and welcoming and I love the products I purchased. Fellow curly haired people know the feeling of leaving a hair salon and immediately regretting the cut and style but I’m so happy with mine. I’m already looking forward to scheduling my next appointment!

Elise G. did MAGIC on my hair! I felt like she understood what I was envisioning for my hair and went above an beyond with it! I appreciated the care she had for the fine details in my highlight to give it the look that I LOVE! She also took time to educate me on products/techniques to help keep my color looking fresh longer. Thank you, Elise!

My stylist was Abby I showed her 1 side picture of the cut and color that I wanted and she definitely delivered!! I have the exact color and cut that I wanted. Thank you Abby for making me look and feel amazing!!
