I had a wonderful visit on December 23rd with Sylvester the hair stylist, he did a great job I have naturally curly hair this is the first time ever that my curls look like curls he took about an hour to do my hair, he was gentle and did cuts that I seen no other do to this curly hair before. I'm very pleased with his work. I will definitely let him cut my hair again! Ladies/ men if you have naturally curly hair this is the stylist you go to! Also like to add along with his experience, he is kind,he makes you feel like he has known you for years! All around awesome! Thanks Mr slyvester!

A friend of mine who happens to be African-American with slightly textured hair scheduled an appointment two weeks ago from today, 10/21/2017, after a preliminary consultation with a stylist from the salon. At no point in time during the consultation did he stylist hint that her hair was considered “unworkable” and so at the stylists behest, my friend scheduled a hair appointment for two weeks out for color, cut and hairstyle. Fast forward to today, 10/21/2017, and my friend goes to her appointment. I’m thinking all is going well until my dear friend calls me clearly upset about her visit. The salon TURNED HER AWAY because they claimed that her NATURALLY TEXTURED HAIR was, in an insulting manner, “MATTED BEYOND BEING WORKABLE”. I know what a matte in ones hair would look like, and after getting home, took a look at my friends hair. Surprise, surprise... HER HAIR IS NOT MATTED UP, NOR UNWORKABLE AS THE STYLISTS WHO TURNED HER AWAY CLAIMED. I’m certain that her differing hair texture and their desire for quick and easy appointments were determining factors in them deciding that they didn’t want to invest “TOO MUCH TIME” in a paying patrons hair. The way my kind friend was treated is beyond frustrating - downright angering - and I can’t believe they would treat someone with different hair texture this way. Major disappointment #2 for me with this salon. I didn’t want to be a patron before, and I certainly don’t want to be now. Apparently time-investment jobs are not worthy of service at this place.

I've been coming to Visible Changes for over two years now. I love the staff, they are extremely friendly and hospitable. I must say I love going to Blair for my hair coloring and Sylvester for hair cut. Blair always works with me to get to the perfect color tone I want. She is attentive to detail and would so recommend her for everyone wanting color. Sylvester is AMAZING!! Both my husband and myself love going to him.We always get exactly what we were expecting without having to say too much. I love Visible Changes!!

Never will I let anyone other than Vicky touch my hair. I've been going to her for several years. I rarely know what I want to do with my hair, so I just let Vicky do what she does best. I am always beyond satisfied and feel amazing. She is always so sweet! She always asks how my children are doing. Several members of my family go to her as well. Highly recommend this hair goddess! Thank you, Vicky, for always being so sweet and awesome with hair.

As much as I use to love coming to this location for Visible Changes, it seems that this pleasure has come to an end with the staffing change. I would like to point out that I am African American, thus I have textured hair that tends to curl and sometimes get tangled. Prior to the event that happened yesterday (10-21-17), I would come here to get my hair straightened. My favorite stylist was a woman named Monica who was of Hispanic heritage and absolutely did a fantastic job on styling my hair, unfortunately, I believe she no longer works at this location. Let's jump into why I gave this location such a bad review, which I hate to do but I feel must be necessary for anyone with textured hair. I had box braids prior to setting up my appointment two weeks in advance. I had received a consultation for a style, cut, and hair dye and the staff had agreed that they could work with my hair. Keep in mind that last year I had box braids before and had walked in after I had taken them out and Monica had taken great care of me. Yes, my hair is thick, yes it was tangled, but she didn't simply let the texture of my hair scare her away. Upon waiting for the colorist Maria to start my hair, she went through my head and made comments that my hair was tangled, matted, and she couldn't work with it. She then grabbed the stylist named Shaun who then implied that my hair had turned into dreadlocks from keeping my braids in too long and that I should google/find a place on Lamar street to detangle/style my hair because it was unworkable for them. The texture was too much, and color wouldn't sit well with my hair. I simply left in a proper manner without arguing, but this was the first time in my life that I left a hair salon COMPLETELY distressed. Now, I asked a few friends if they thought my hair was matted and unworkable, and they questioned why I asked. They all made comments saying "yes your hair is tangled a little but I can still run my fingers through it. Plus, if you just brush it or comb it, your hair is fine". Not to mention the past few times I've been to the salon and the hair stylists simply detangle my hair. I was prepared to pay the price to get my hair dyed, styled, and cut like any other customer but was turned away because of my hair texture. Maybe they were overbooked for the day, maybe the work stress was getting to the staff, but I didn't appreciate the comments that were given to me when I was there and when they quickly rushed to cancel my appointment entirely. All I received from this was that they simply did not desire to put in the work even though I was prepared to pay any price. I have prior before/after photos from when I would have my hair styled at this location, but with this staff changed I wouldn't recommend anyone to venture here. If you can not work on highly textured hair, don't advertise it. If African American hair can not be worked on in your salon, simply state it. I've always given positive feedback in the past and hate to leave such a negative review, but I feel it is necessary for anyone who has textured hair so they don't run into this problem how I have.
