I can't say enough good things about my experience at Jackson Ruiz, North Lamar. It is set up so that some stylists specialize in cutting and some in color, which means you need to see two different people. This ended up being such a good thing as they can really focus on what you are hoping to achieve, and what they might recommend. If it is your first time to see a colorist, you will set up a consultation appointment first so you can work with them to determine what you will be making an appointment for. They time appointments beautifully so that your stylist is waiting when you arrive, and they make you feel so welcome and relaxed making sure to offer you a quality beverage. The shampoo room is like a spa, you receive a complimentary hand and lower arm massage while in the chair, and when you leave you feel so pampered and well taken care of. This makes going twice to see each specialists a bonus. I also love that there is no tipping here, which means I know exactly what I will pay before I go, and no gratuity anxiety. And on top of all that, both my cut and color are possibly the best I have ever had!

I'm always scared switching salons/stylists however I felt right at ease entering the salon. Very clean environment with friendly staff. Loved Alex, she did an amazing job and listened to all my requests. Will definitely get my hair done by her again!

First time at Ruiz Salon and I would highly recommend Alex. They have created such an experience that I really appreciate as a customer. I was welcomed into the store and given a tour. They offered me a robe and a glass of wine. The place was clean and relaxing. The hair washing area felt more like a spa. Alex gave me the best hair cut I have gotten in years! She listened to what I wanted, explained the products she was using and gave me several tips on how to create more volume with the blow dryer. I will definitely be going back!

I have been before and had a good experience, but when I tried to book another appointment I used their online booking service. My appointment was at 6:45 p.m. and the salon's website says they close at 10 p.m. I got a call 5 days before my appointment telling me they could only do my service if I skipped the blow dry at the end because my service will take longer than their salon is open. They proceeded to tell me that their salon actually closes at 8:30, not 10 p.m. like their website says. I agreed to do it and said I would use the complimentary blow dry some other time. She then told me that I would have to pay if I used it on another day, even though their booking service is the reason I am not getting the full treatment. I agreed to do it because this was the only time my hair stylist had after 6 p.m. until June. I then got a call 2 days before my appointment telling me they are cancelling my appointment because it will take longer than they are open. They gave me no alternative or help with their wrongdoings - just said "sorry we're closed." I work in customer service and this is a terrible way of treating clients. There are too many other salons in this town to deal with people who are rude!

Such a great environment! I've been seeing the same stylist for about a year now, and I always look forward to getting my hair cut. They have complimentary wine, tea, head, and hand massages!
