I booked on style seat so I emailed the owner some questions I had before the appointment. She replied promptly. I went to have starter locs done. Almost 2hours after my appt. time the woman was finally washing my hair I asked what kind of parting pattern does she use. She said c-shape. In all the research I did about dreadlocks before deciding to start the journey, I had never heard of c-shaped pattern. Wanting to be able to style my hair I asked the woman would I be able to part my hair on the middle and sides. She assured me I would be able to. During the process of parting & coiling my hair the woman started commenting how dead the ends of my hair are on the back of my head. I had already told her the front and sides are a different texture than the back and crown of my head. I asked her should I have gotten my hair trimmed before locking it. She said something that I don't recall the basically meant yes. Then she tells me to move to another chair so she could work on the next guys dress because "his won't take as long as mine will". Boy was I pissed. Almost an hour later she calls me back to the chair and she proceeds to snip the so called "dead ends" end of my hair in order to make her job of coiling it easier. Needless to say she had already done the entire front of my head so now I would have uneven dreads due to her chopping off almost an inch in the back. When all was said and done I was happy in the sense of I'm actually starting this journey but the more I looked at the hair the more i noticed. First off, there were no "parts" in the hair at all. It looked like she used her fingers to part. Second, the back was done by comb but the the center front and left half of my head was done by hand. So needless to say the dreads looked quite different (size shape pattern). Third, I guess her way of making sure I could part my hair was to make an almost straight "finger part" on the left side of my head. So after failing to get over these things I emailed her explaining my concerns and asking if she could at least redo the done by hand dreads with the comb. NEVER HEARD BACK. Not only am I not going there for my started locs; she just loss a potential client for any other services either. And good luck finding the place. I passed it twice and almost couldn't find the front door. She's going to talk to you about uncomfortable things like weather you use pads or tampons and then show you YouTube videos about toxic shock. She will also try to sell you weight loss supplements and her up priced loc socs. I understand a small family salon but still keep it professional to some degree.
