I moved and needed a new place for a men's haircut. I picked them based solely on Google reviews. The reviews were correct it is a really nice place. It seems legit and they take it seriously. Some places look nice but have a bad vibe to them. They were very professional and friendly. Spencer cut my hair and did a great job! I left it in his creative hands and it come out much better than I was expecting. The cost of the cut was pricier than I have paid in the past but the atmosphere, professionalism and shampoo with massage made it worth it.

I highly recommend Michael Thomas Salon. I have no qualms about making the 3 hour round trip to spend time with this fabulous group of very talented professionals. Customer service is their highest priority and it shows from the moment you walk through the door. I have always been more than pleased with the various services I have received. The space is aesthetically pleasing and the product selection is stellar. I always feel beautiful when I leave Michael Thomas, inside and out!

In my opinion this salon is not good for color. I gave this salon three tries. I walked in with gorgeous cool tone blonde highlights and left with a warm tone mess to fix. I have a cool skin tone so warm tones look awful on me. For some reason the first girl gave me warm highlights. During the second visit she decided to tone my hair too much and made the light blonde grey/blue and the roots remained a brassy burnt orange. The second girl tried to fix it and said she had to go warm to blend it all together. I was told to come back in 6 weeks to assess the damage again. At that point they may be able to lift to a cool tone or wait another 6 weeks. I don't know what to believe at this point, I just miss the hair I had prior to seeing this salon. I showed them many pictures of what I wanted and did not want. I'm really sad :(. I've spent $310 including tips for all of this. At least the owner was nice enough to give me some products to help damage done to my hair. I hope my prior stylist in can get my cool blonde back. It's worth the hour drive to Portsmouth after all.

I went in a few months ago to get my eyebrows done by Caryn and it's one of my favorite places to go to to get my eyebrows done. Caryn takes the time to tell you what she's gonna do before she does it and makes sure your comfortable from beginning to end. She describes everything in detail that she uses and after see's finished gives you all the time that you need before getting up. Another time I went in there was to get my makeup done by Jenn. Not only is she talkative and pleasant but she also takes her time with what's she's doing and won't stop until she's 100% satisfied with her results. She asks you before doing anything what you're looking for and what colors you either like or don't. Throughout the whole makeup trail she gives you tips on what she does for when you're doing your own makeup! As soon as you walk into this salon you feel comfortable and relaxed while they make sure you aren't hungry or thirsty the whole time you're there. You can also tell as soon as you get in there that everyone who works there gets along well and really enjoys being there and what they do. Would highly recommend this salon to anyone.

The only salon I've gone back to a second time. Absolutely amazing, Spencer did my hair and he was great!!! Basically a life savior, he listened to me, advised me and got me exactly what I wanted when it came to coloring my hair and doing my perm. I would highly recommend everyone to go here, the entire staff was friendly, place was very neat and overall experience was wonderful! Definitely going back here again!
