A big shout out in the MOST NEGATIVE way possible for the WORST customer service imaginable. Each year I treat my wife with a gift certificate at Christmas for a 50 min deep tissue massage to use when she is feeling most stressed and needs to relax. Well, this past Friday was THAT day. She made the appointment a week in advance and was looking forward to it all week. I paid for a full 50 minute deep tissue massage ($150) and I always include a 20% gratuity (another $30), so when my wife walks in, she hands the certificate in, gets a great massage, and then walks out refreshed and relaxed. No dollar amount is on the certificate, just the service. This way, it can be given as a gift, and the recipient does not need to know the cost. Not this time. After a great massage, the lady at the desk tells my wife she owes $15. When my wife questions her, it was a very beat around the bush answer that just completely destroyed her sense of peacefulness, which is the reason she went there in the first place. To RELAX! Long story short... Since Christmas, a little more than 90 days, they raised the price for a basic massage to $140 and an additional $25 for deep tissue (or salt stones or hot stones). A gratuity of $30 brings it to $195, $15 more than what I paid for. My wife had the option to say just take it out of the gratuity and walk, but then the massage therapist would be penalized for horrible front office sales techniques. She paid the additional $15 and walked out feeling very annoyed. This is just WRONG. She came home just as equally stressed due to horrible customer service at the front desk. If you pay for a service in advance, and the corporation decides to raise the price later on, they should STILL HONOR the certificate for the service they offered. I get it if the certificate is a year or two old, but just about 90 days?! This is a completely deceptive sales practice and border line criminal in my opinion. So guys beware. If you are treating that special lady to a massage or any spa package at The Red Door, be warned. And ladies, if you are treating yourself, be prepared for a hassle at the front desk.
