Agree with previous reviewer about not going here for color. Got highlights by Victoria and my hair came out as orangey stripes. She told me would fix it next day if I came back but she didnt bother to even show up. Her associates were very nice and put in a glaze to tone down the warmth of my highlights but it washed out in less than a week and the awful color was back. Had to go to another salon for a color correction. Larry the co-owner is the opposite - a true professional who will do job right and make sure you are happy. It’s a shame I won’t be returning because of the color job. After wasting 300 dollars I can’t go back.

Hands down the best salon in NYC. If you have Black or Dark Hair and want gorgeous highlights or to get your full on blonde glam on or lighter hair with out damage... Book with Douglas. Black Asian hair is no problem, they have a special patented process.

If the salon world the movie industry, I would be Dorothy, Whittemore House would be Home, Larry (literally, one of the greatest and most talented color tech in the world) would be the Wizard of Oz. What I'm trying to say is... "There's no place like Whittemore" ... click your heels into 45 grove st and get your hair did... Larry is the only genius out there to create beach blonde without a hint of brassiness to it; perfect color.

Made an appointment for a gloss to tone down the warmth in my hair. I’ve made similar appointments dozens of times at other salons with stellar results - unfortunately, not this time. Spent 2 hours + $120 and walked away with my hair unchanged. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a salon.

I've been going here since the very first second it opened! I love it so much that even when I moved to Philly I clear my schedule to book an appointment when I'm in town for a color and cut. Larry has been coloring my hair for over 10 years and we've been through many different colors and iterations together. He was the only one I trusted to color my hair for my wedding. Ryan has been cutting my hair for years and I love being able to sit in his chair and say a few words and he knows exactly what I want done, new look, new vibe, new me but keep the length please! He nails it every time!!
