Horrendous customer service, terrible performance, awful atmosphere. I will never go here again, nor will I recommend this to anyone! Read on for details of my box braid nightmare.
I have been getting my hair braided my entire life, I have type 3B curly hair, and box braids have been my go to for the past 18 months or so. When I called here for my appt, I explained all this, and also that I would be bringing my own hair for the braids (the hair that I've been using for the past year and a half, pre cut, pre stretched). I was quoted $140 and above, to which I agreed and we set my time for 9:30 am.
Upon arrival the next morning, my stylist argued with me that the hair I brought would not work with my natural hair texture (not true) and kept trying to convince me to use their hair which was not available in my color preference. As I was politely trying to refuse, she picked up a packet of my hair and told me that she would have to cut it in half to install it. I asked her to explain, and instead of taking a small portion, she took the entire packet and cut it in half! Which no stylist had ever had to do before and was completely bogus and ruined my extensions.
I was so angry, that I said, whatever, just use your salon hair and put in these braids (I am really committed to my braids). So we agreed on black and light brown and I said explicitly that I wanted the colors evenly mixed throughout, NOT a single braid of brown and single braids of black. And the end, what did I have? Single braids of light brown, and single braids of black.
Between my stylist and the salon owner, they also tried multiple times to raise the price as I was sitting there. Using my natural hair texture and length as an excuse. After already having to pay for hair, which I was upset about since I brought my own, I was not going to budge on price, so It was sensationally frustrating that they would even try.
In the end, I ended up leaving the salon at 8:40pm - yes you read that correctly, I was here for 11 hours!! There were 2 people working on my hair. This is ridiculous. Ive never had more than one person working on my hair, and it has never taken longer than 6 hours, with the fastest time for box braids being 4:45 hours.
On a final note, the atmosphere. All morning long, they were blaring gospel music, which wouldn't have been terrible had it not been so loud that I couldn't even block it out with my headphones. All afternoon, they were playing old reruns of family feud. It was a terrible place to be stuck in for 11 hours.
