When your hair speaks for you ...

I was feeling so sick and stopped in at Starbucks (and I boycott them so you KNOW I was feeling awful) to get a plain oatmeal (the only thing I felt I could keep down). I had resting flu face, looked like a Zombie extra, and a middle-aged woman approached me and asked, if she could ask me a "weird" question. Too weak to argue, i said, "Sure." "Who does your hair? I've been wanting to grow my gray out and I'm not happy with my current stylist and I love your hair!" She lives in SALEM but was so happy to get a referral. I almost hate to give his name out, but if you have gray hair and want to not look like Barbara Bush or Big Bird, Taven is my hero. On my next visit, she told me the woman from Salem had booked an appointment and was very happy with her hair. You're welcome. Don't patronize Starbucks. They're in bed with Nestle and those are not good companies.

I chose this salon because it had a high Google rating so I am hoping to warn others like me. I saw the owner, Hassan, on 5/24 for a cut and highlight appointment. I showed him pictures of how I wanted my hair and explained in detail what I was looking for. He quickly glanced at my pictures once at the beginning of the appointment and went to work. He tried to persuade me part my hair to the side even though the style I showed him was parted in the middle. I stood my ground and told him I would be styling my hair parted in the middle before he began cutting. Hassan gave me choppy shelf layers that look absolutely hacked. The hairstyle I asked for was modern/trendy/edgy and I look like I could be the president of the PTA named Karen. He blow dried my hair, parted it to the side, then tucked it behind my ears because it looks so bad. I will never be returning to this stylist as I feel that he did not listen to what I asked for.

I saw Gina today and she was so professional, friendly, explained the process and what she would do. She gave me a cut, highlight toner and style. She was so amazing and finished quicker than expected. I was hesitant to go to a new Hair salon especially with my type of hair, I have thick long, curly hair, Gina handled it like a pro. Now I have my go to place and it’s nice that it’s close to home. Definitely recommend going here and if you can see Gina. Thank you for taking good care of my hair

Called last minute to see if there was any chance I could grab an appt. They squeezed me in and really delivered! Plus, my stylist (Fati) recommended an awesome smelling shampoo that helps with the chlorine buildup in my hair! Will be going back!

The receptionist Sara was very kind, props to her. I felt as though I were in safe hands with Hassan. Even let him blow dry my hair which I normally do not allow as my hair is very delicate. And my hair looked beautiful blow dried and styled. Now the bad news. Unfortunately, washed and dried, the results turned out choppy, uneven about an inch, with disconnected layering. Had it been cut cleanly, I would have had been more accepting with the amount of length taken off. Given I had to have extra length taken off to clean up the job, I expected more expertise and efficiency from a high end professional. (Also, Hassan, don’t you EVER again, stroke a clients ring finger and ask if they’re married. That was HIGHLY inappropriate).

Definitely a very friendly and comfortable environment. What's really cool is the fact that the owner is standing there all day and working hard just like everyone else. What a good leader! He personally helped me and cut my hair. Thank you Hassan for the great haircut and your nice personality.
