I came in here because I read the positive reviews on Google and Yelp and the decent price for a hair cut. It’s also close to my house.
The woman who cut my hair was very friendly and a good conversationist. She also cut the style that I wanted (face framing layers, side bangs, and layered). I am very satisfied with the cut as at most places I went to before, I didn’t see my face framing layers after the initial cut. But here, the style was maintained for some months. I have been going to mainly John Casablancas for their $10 hair cuts (+ tax now) but because it is a hair school, it usually takes 2 hours to have my hair cut. I realized I would rather save myself time and get my hair professionally done.
There is no big sign in the front of the salon indicating that is it J and J. The interior and exterior could do a reno as they are quite dated looking but the price of a cut may go up.
I would save myself $10 for the wash and wash my hair at home before going. Then you just pay $12 instead of $22.
There are 2 hairdressers there. The woman cuts women’s hair (maybe men’s too?) and the man cuts men’s hair.
There are a few free parking spaces in the back of the salon and also on the sidewalk adjacent as well as on 33rd and b/w Main and Quebec (free until 3 pm on week days and all day Sat and Sun).
