Rod is a true artist and an absolute genius with clippers. I've been getting my hair cut by him since March and am impressed every time. I trust him implicitly. I always love his design choices and it is a joy to watch him work (freehand!). The staff are all super friendly and complimentary and go out of their way to make everyone feel at home. My very first appointment, Rod gave me a big hug like I was an old friend. It is a joy to see everyone and I'm so grateful I discovered this gem of a salon in my beloved Detroit.

This is the first time that I have gone to a new salon and was super relaxed throughout the whole experience. Lauren, who cut my hair, listened exactly to what I wanted. So many salons style my hair like a soccer mom. Really the first time I that I have felt that I got exactly what I had asked for. The small staff is so friendly. The owners are truly artists. Will definitely come back.

I went to Hair Lab to cut my long wavy curly hair to a shoulder length lob. I was a bit nervous to undergo the dramatic change as I've had long hair for over a decade but Lauren and I discussed what I wanted in detail (I came prepared with photos which she appreciated). After all was said and done I left the salon with damp hair (because I air dry my curls) but I really enjoyed my experience and my hair came out fab. Thank you Lauren!

I’m a bit late in posting my review! I had a hiccup the first time around, I didn’t communicate well when I spoke with Sierra, so I didn’t get what I envisioned. I called back and spoke to Rodrick and he got me back in with Sierra. I found out my hair is fine not thick so it has to be cut a certain way to get long layers, who knew! I also learned that my version of strawberry blonde is actually golden blonde. Long story short, I learned, Sierra learned and it was all good! I love my hair! I will say, when I called back to inform Rodrick that my first cut and color wasn’t what I envisioned and that I wanted it redone, I was worried he would be rude or Sierra might be mad or upset but they weren’t like that at all! Roderick and Sierra were kind and accommodating. Sierra assured me that it’s okay to express concerns and that she wants me to be happy with my hair. They have a customer for life, thanks y’all!
