I have taken my special needs daughter to the Supercuts at the Summit for over 10 years. The stylists have always done a good job with her simple bob with bangs haircut and have been kind. Until last Saturday March 24.
I had scheduled an appointment, however although there were stylists available, the two that were not cutting hair seemed more involved in applying stickers to shampoo bottles. After waiting patiently for 20 minutes, I was about to get up and leave when we were finally - but somewhat reluctantly - called.
I showed a picture of my daughter with her last cut from 6 weeks prior so the stylist would know exactly how I wanted her hair. I explained all that my daughter needed was a 1/2 inch trim. After spraying her hair with water, the stylist said that my daughter's hair was a bit uneven and did I want to even it up. I said, "Yes". Of course you would want your hair even - unless of course you are going for something asymmetrical.
She then proceeded to lop off 2 to 3 inches of hair on my daughter's right side! I got up and reminded her of the 1/2 inch that I had requested. All she said was that I'd wanted it 'even'. Sitting back down I watched with continued dismay at the horrible hair cut my daughter was receiving. My daughter is now 33, although she looks in her teens.I have tried her entire life to have her present as 'normal' as possible in dress and hair. To see her hair being butchered in this way, in a style that was unbecoming, was very upsetting to me.
Finally, I could stand it no longer and asked the stylist, "HOW is this EVEN?" I couldn't believe it. I then chose to stop and take my daughter home to cut her hair myself - which turned out a whole lot better than the stylist - but not the best look for my daughter. I paid for the service - against my better judgment - because it is my habit, but I will NEVER go back into that salon again.
My advice is that you know who is cutting your hair - get a recommendation - don't assume anything. I couldn't believe someone could screw up a simple blunt cut with bangs so horribly - but they did.
