I should preface this review with the fact that I came here with a Groupon. Not that that fact in itself should make any difference at all, but unfortunately, in my experience, it has.
Thankfully, my experience at Aveda was great.
Firstly, booking was a breeze. If you're booking with a Groupon, do be aware that not all stylists accept Groupons. Thus, who you have to work with is limited. With that being said, even whilst being limited, I'd say you have plenty to pick from.
I was assigned to Lerer. If this where you stop reading, the biggest takeaway from this review? Highly recommend.
The salon itself is absolutely beautiful.. it's clean and classy in both its look and feel. Not only will you come out looking like a queen, but you'll feel like one in your time there as well.
Now, as for the bulk of the review, it was evident from the get-go that Lerer was an extremely skilled stylist. During the consultation process, she wasn't shy in sharing (given her experience) what she felt would work for me. Rather than being my yes-man, she really worked with me to bounce off ideas and suggestions. Although all was taken with a grain of salt, it was much appreciated. We ended up settling on lightening up with ashier highlights and a small trim. This was roughly a 3-3.5 hour process in large part because Lerer didn't rush it. She was absolutely meticulous in making sure the highlights were seamlessly blended. Believe it or not, I wasn't exactly going for the early 2000s look.. The trim was as trims should be--stark enough to make a difference, but not drastic enough to notice. Trust me, that is a great compliment coming from me. I usually only do trims when I adore my current length/style. All in all, fantastic experience.
