I’m very conflicted on this review but my biggest peeve of hair salons is when they don’t communicate price and I feel like I need to share this story so other people don’t feel bamboozeled after like I did. I will start by saying that the owners are kind and my hair did look great after the color.
That being said, the prices on their website and their communication on price is not okay. I went in for a simple single process color. This service is $80 on their website. My hair is long so I expected to pay extra despite the fact it didn’t say $80+. After he finished coloring and shampooing, he blow dried it without telling me if it was extra or okay to do so. I have gotten my hair colored numerous times before, shampoo is a given and blow dry is usually a given to make sure the color is okay.
When I went to pay, he charged me $170 for a color (No toner, no highlights, no cut, no trim). I felt like I was going to cry. After tip that brought it up to a whopping $200, about $80 more than I intended to spend. I ended up going back and talking to them. I explained that they needed to communicate how much it was before doing it. They didn’t quote it before, they tried to tell me after the fact that it is $55 for a shampoo/blow dry so that’s where some of it came from but their website says differently and I didn’t even get a cut. They also said the $80 is just for a root touch up which is not specified on their website. So the service I got isn’t even listed on the price list, none of the services were that high. They did end up crediting me back a little bit (basically what I had paid in tip) but it was still more than I intended to spend and I told them it would be too much for me to return again. I also regularly get my eyebrows waxed there and will likely not go back for that either. I do feel bad because they are nice people and they do a good job but that was just completely unacceptable. So just be aware that if you are going in for just a color, it’ll cost you.
