Maybe I came to this salon when the owner and stylists were having an off-day, but I felt that their customer service was severely lacking.
My service: I came here to have twists put in my natural hair without extensions.
Pros: My stylist finished quickly and they looked fine but hardly worth the $70 ($75 including tip) that I paid for them.
Cons: Whenever I would ask the stylist a simple question, like "How much would it cost to have these taken out and re-done in a month?" or "What's the best way to curl the ends?" she would say, "Ask her," meaning the manager/owner. That is poor service. As a paying customer, the stylist should inquire on your behalf. I'm paying you $70 when the end result was only worth $45, and you can't even ask the owner/manager those two simple questions? You either answer the question or politely say, "I'm not sure; let me ask." Ridiculous. Also, it took the stylist about 25 minutes to actually start my hair because the owner/manager left to pick up a gel she wanted her to use without telling me. So, I'm sitting there wondering what the hell is going on, while the stylist is playing on her cell phone. I ask the stylist, "When will she come back?" and she said, "You have her number. Call her." And I went off. I'm sorry, but no. I'm paying you. If anyone should be doing the heavy lifting, it's you. When the owner/manager finally arrived with the hair product she wanted to use, she demanded that I pay her before the service was even complete. Also unprofessional. When I repeated my question to her about how much it would cost for them to take it out, she spat, "Take it out yourself; just unravel the ends."
What the hell?
After the stylist finished my hair, I tipped her $5 to be polite and she couldn't even be bothered to give me a mirror so I could view the end result.
I feel bad leaving this review because I like to support black-owned businesses and this place has such great reviews. I'm sorry to leave the first negative one.
Like I said, maybe the stylists were having a bad day.
