First time client for sew in medium lengthy sew in. Found special on Groupon and decided to try out the location although it was not near me. It was located across time and I was running 15 mins behind so I called ahead to let her know and see if it was ok. She said that she was "running a little behind herself" and to come on in. The stylist is a nice older lady but won't be back. Salon is in need of a good cleaning and new equipment, chairs, etc. Had an 11 am appt but left around 8am. I had the courtesy of calling ahead to inform that I was running behind WHY CANT STYLIST GIVE CLIENTS THE SAME COURTESY IF THEY ARE BEHIND ON THEIR APPTS?! We can stay in the comfort of our own home, office, etc and arrive at the new time or reschedule. She was shampooing another client after a relaxer to get a sew in as well when I arrived. I sat in old plastic lawn chairs across the front of the shop. I came in with hair shampooed and ready. While first client was under dryer my hair was braided down but stopped before completion to go back and finish up first clients hair which is understandable. She was there first. Noticed dropping comb on floor and cringed when comb was not changed or sanitized prior to placing back in the poor young lady's hair! The foor was not clean and this was a great concern and I thought of leaving and should have but pushed it aside and stayed because of the time I was already there, hair was partially braided already and will be leaving for a cruise in a week. Nor was the comb sanitized or changed between clients, went from my hair to the first client and eventually a 3rd client's who came in later! My fault I did not leave. Eventually came back to my hair, finished the braiding down which was tight but not too bad. When the sew in process started she was very rough with the tugging and when she was working around my hair line I was in so much pain my scalp was throbbing and burning so much in pain that it felt like it was bleeding! Right before the cut I had to speak up about the wig/rug look across the front. After Spending a total $75 for the hair and $75 for the service I was not happy with the look at all. She began to roughly unbraid and the braid around my hair line as I requested clearly frustrated. With the roughness I was visualizing my fragile hair line being ripped out! She then asked me if I would be ok with her starting on her 3rd client .to get her started. I reluctantly said yes because my scalp needed a break and I did not want her to continuing being so rough on my painful scalp and do anymore damage to the hair I had nursed into a healthy state over the last year going natural. She then braided the new girl's hair and began to sew in the first weft. I'm like..."you wanted to just get started right?" *The client rolled her eyes at me. I could definitely understand her frustration at the long wait but I was there first, right? Just like the poor lady before me. She said yes and I asked if I can be out at least by 7pm. She was like, in frustration, "I don't know because I don't even know what time it is." I said " it's 6:30." She worked a few mins more on the 3rd client then came back to me. Finished roughly correcting my unattractive hairline and made a different closure from what came with the hair, finished my sew in and cut it to the length I requested. My beautiful human hair weave was not what I expected as a final result. The hair itself was beautiful but the quality of the work is sub par. As I massaged my aching scalp during my drive back across town I felt loose flaps of unsewn down wefts around my hair line and tight slick patches of skin around my temples. I am terrified that some of my hair may be missing in spots! It is the next day and I am making an appt at A DIFFERENT salon to have them wash it ASAP from the dirty comb use and to check the loose flaps and health of my scalp. Nice enough lady at Ga La Car but she needs to; not over book herself, take time with one client at a time, clean her place up and update the "shop." ***Please excuse any typos.
