I went to this salon to get a trim and highlights. There were only 2 employees in this place. The owner and his assistant was pretty new, and very sweet. The owner insisted on cutting my hair in a style I had before and told him I didn't like it. I told him twice I didn't want that cut, that I had it before and didn't like it. He insisted somehow the way he would do it would be better. I was very tired and stressed that day. I was too tired to keep arguing, and really needed a haircut badly.
The colorist did a great job repairing a dye job, and put in very subtle highlights without causing damage. However, it was a very long process. She seemed to work a little slower than most colorist I used before, plus the owner kept checking on what she was doing. I was there 3 hours. It was exhausting. I am older and it's hard for me to sit for that long.
I began to get concerned about the price. When I asked her how much this was going to cost, she said the owner would let me know. Really?
When I went to pay, he insisted on selling me some products. I needed some hairspray and another styling product anyway. Then he insisted I needed a couple more. He finally sold me a third product, (which cost an additional $29). When I told him I already had a product like that at home and didn't need it just yet, he said it was much better than what I was using. It's awful. Alcohol is one of the first ingredients. It pulls the color out of my hair, smells strong and doesn't work as well as what I was using that was $11 cheaper. He would have sold me more products if I had not put my foot down.
I gave a 20% tip because the colorist did a very nice job. The total bill was $400 with tip. The 3 products were about $100 out of that bill.
The bill did not breakdown the cost of the haircut and highlights or products which had the prices on the bottom.
I think this place first and foremost needs to listen to the wants of the customer. Then it needs to post up to date prices where they can be seen and on their website. Lastly stop being so pushy about products.
I've found a new stylist who is willing to listen to what I want.
