7/11/17 - UPDATE. I worked with a manager who set things right. Much better experience this time. I really wanted to like this place, so I'm glad i was able to connect with the manager and try again.
Advice: there's only a $2 difference between the basic cut and adding a hair wash. Get the hair wash. They do a good job and it feels great.
4/11/17 - Poor first-time experience. I TOLD them just wanted the basic $18 haircut. They told me about this free upgrade I get as a first-time customer, which sounded cool, so OK. Then the lady cutting my hair was talking about "double" this and "double" that upgrade (no mention of an upcharge, never ASKING if I wanted to upgrade), and the whole experience was fine. The haircut was OK.
Then checking out, it cost more, and there was a $5 charge with the lady's name next to it, so I asked if that was her tip or what it meant, and she kept referring dismissively to it as the upgrade. I said I thought it was "free", and she kept saying yeah, but then you upgraded. It took like 5 minutes for me to finally understand she upgraded my upgrade, which DID cost, which I hadn't wanted. The manager came and handed my extra dollars back, but I was never sure if I paid the right amount, and I had already given the lady a tip, which I kind of then wanted back for failing to inform me she was charging me more, then being dodgy about how/what the charge was.
The manager was cool, and by the looks she gave the other who cut my hair, she was not pleased with this whole outcome.
