I tried this salon out of the blue on a whim and I had an AMAZING experience! I am absolutely in love with the way Olivia colored my hair! I had dark brown hair and got balayage highlights to make it subtly lighter for summer. It was exactly what I wanted and it looks very natural. Would definitely recommend Olivia!!

I've been going to Laura Braunstein for 4 years now. I trusted them to change my hair from long blonde to short brown and it looked amazing! The staff is very kind, the ambiance feels stylish and comfortable. I've use three different hairstylists and they've all been very knowledgeable. Dina especially knew exactly what I want, without much explanation. Looking forward to next time!

Laura is terrific. She really took the time to understand exactly what I wanted in a haircut, she explained what she was doing and why, and I came out of the salon looking terrific. Her prices are reasonable by Manhattan standards, and there is absolutely no pressure to buy products or more services. Her assistant Jamie was also great. Both of them are easy to talk to. As a result of all of these things on my first visit, I now plan to become a regular client.

I WILL NEVER RETURN HERE. I came in for a single process - going from very light brown to dark brown. As you can see, the hairstylist only colored my hair partially - there is a large swath in the middle of light hair across the whole head that is not dyed! Even worse, she didn't tell me that this is what my hair looked like in the back and I forgot to ask to see the back!!! She also dried my hair when she was finished and I thought this was part of the single process charge, only to be charged an EXTRA $40 for the blow dry. As soon as I walked out of the studio my daughter saw my horrible hair, so I came back the next morning to the studio and complained. Laura (the owner) wasn't there, but Tracie looked at my hair and agreed with me and took another picture (it looks worse on the side) but told me that she'd have to have Laura call me back. Two days went by and I heard NOTHING. I called again and asked to speak with Laura, who would NOT get on the phone with me! She told Jamie to tell me that "they can't give refunds" but if I come back in, they'll try and fix it. She also said they won't refund the $40 charged to dry my hair because it says on their website that a blowout is $40, even though the stylist never mentioned it and never asked if I wanted one, just started drying it, leaving me to think it was part of the process. Laura passed on through her assistant that I need to take into account that this was an EMERGING STYLIST - ie, cheaper than "senior stylists"...in other words, I should expect mistakes and then pay for them myself??? DON'T GO HERE FOR COLOR!!!

This place is.... not great. Iâ€™ve gone there twice and had two different people, never had Laura. The first woman was over sharing about her personal life while coloring me, forgot me at the shampoo bowl when I had gloss on and my hair came out grayish platinum. I went back to ask if she could just tone it down and she said to leave it alone and it would be fine in a week or two. Yikes. I decided to try again with someone new months later because the color in my hair had grown out and there was a stark line between brunette and blonde. This woman was better, she said some things about how my haircut was choppy and tried to convince me to fix it ... I had just gotten it done by my favorite place so ouch. I told her what had happened last time with the color and she did do much better but after I went home my roommate pointed out the line in my hair was still there. And the bottom which I also wanted colored (I paid for it to be fixed at least) and it was still way darker than the rest when I got home. I was disappointed because I spent a lot of money, called about it, sent emails and nobody ever responded. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I would avoid this place if you can. Two stars because the second woman was way better than the first and my hair is at least okay to wear out and about, it just looks like I havenâ€™t had my hair done in months.
