I went here because a fellow choir member suggested it. I was a bit skeptical because everyone can't put their hands in your hair however I wanted to support a black business instead of going to my usual Dominican hair spot in Va Beach. When I got there and she showed up I asked her about my hair type, like do she think I am 4b or 4c. She had NO idea what I was talking about but she "specializes" in natural hair??? Then while she was washing my hair she asked me why I wanted to be natural. Like what? So I originally went in for a blowout and trim but after sitting in her chair I knew I wasn't going to like the outcome. She basically gave me a wash, half blow dry, flat iron, and cut almost into a bob. My hair was at my collarbone last blowout which was in August. I was expecting some major length. I was dissatisfied but I paid my money and said I wasn't going to go back. BUT THIS ISNT THE KICKER!!! I let the "blowout" stay in for 2 weeks with no added products during the time. I then washed my hair but it seemed too straight when I had it braided into straight backs. I was thinking it would bounce back this weekend for the 2nd wash but NOOOOO. My hair is completely straight. No curls at all and this is so scary for a person who had been natural going on 4 years. I honestly think she used a keratin shampoo on my hair without my knowledge. I'm going up there today to ask. My hair was full of curls before I went and to reverse a keratin treatment is hard, according to the YouTube videos I watched. Last thing I want is to chop it all off. She has lost my business and if she did use keratin she has lost my respect.

OMG!! I'm not really the type of person to get my hair done... for numerous reasons but mainly because I've never come across anyone that could do anything with my texture. Add to that, 60-70% of my hair fell out a little over a year ago due to stress and eczema... then I crossed paths with a Hair Specialist/Magician that was already a pinnacle in my network and Highly Suggested by my partner, whom was battling lupus, chemotherapy treatments and hair loss. The stylist walked her through the process of regrowing her own hair while keeping her 'hair styles' looking fresh and hot. All this to say, I visited the shop less than a year ago and successfully regrew my own hair long enough to do more than just a washNgo. I recently got two styles in less than 3.5 weeks -- not because the first didn't or couldn't last but because one of the other 'reasons' aforementioned is I need to be able to wash, feel and directly massage my own hair and scalp... which means -- I LOVED my new style and was anxious to get back in the chair!! My stylist *****Mattie Bynum***** is AWEsome!! An added bonus is that the other stylists are AMAZING with what I've seen them doing while getting mine done... and they DO NOT mind helping each other!!!!! Ex: While my stylist was finishing up her last client that overlapped my appointment, the other stylist had finished hers. After cleaning up her station, she beckoned me to her chair and began braiding in preparation of my stylist completing the crotchet process. She could've left and went home... but instead of leaving me waiting and prolonging the time in-shop for Mattie -- I'm almost in tears at how seamless it was done. RealTalk - my experiences combined have made me feel like I had visited The BEST Starbucks and/or Chick-fil-a in town on the day they received a 101 board rating and were still celebrating when I came back!! I mean, I don't recall HEARING a 'happy to serve you' nor a 'my pleasure' but the way I was serviced has me wanting to go back and tip them IN BETWEEN visits!! Now THAT is saying something!!
