I am a 40 year old, married, father of two and I started going to Kelly about 5 years ago when my wife and I first moved to the High Point area. She always did a great job, but I decided that I was going to give the barbershop scene a try and did so for about three years. For three years I bounced around to several different barbers here in the Triad and never really found the right one. Some of the guys were great and gave a good cut; however, at their shops it was walk-in only, so I could never schedule an appointment. As a full-time employee, husband, and dad I have to be able to schedule an appointment. I don't have time to sit around in a barbershop for 2 or 3 hours and shoot the bull with random people. The barbershops that would schedule appointments were rarely on time and I would still end up having to wait 30 minutes or so to even get in the chair after scheduling with them. The excuse was always the same..."sorry buddy, just running a little behind today." Not acceptable! Also, as long as I was going with really short traditional cuts, they were great. As I am letting my hair grow out a little more I found that they weren't quite hitting the mark. I also am well past the age of wanting to try to pull off trendy pompadours, low cut fades, and undercuts. These are fun and trendy looks but do not quite fit the more mature and professional needs of the corporate world. Finally, at my last barbershop experience, I sat there in the chair while grown men (barbers included!) talked about other grown men needing spankings in order to learn how to behave. Yeah, that's right. The conversation was about men who have a bad attitude, or get out of line at work, and how what they really need is to be taken out somewhere and given a "bare ass spanking". They apparently need this because it is believed they never received a spanking as a child, and because of this lack of discipline at a young age, they never truly learned how to behave. Apparently, a "bare ass spanking" will whip a grown man right into shape and solve any attitude problem??? Needless to say, it hit me as I was sitting there in the chair getting my haircut, having to endure this absolutely ridiculous conversation, that I used to have a wonderful women who would wash my hair in a very relaxing environment where amazing music was always playing. She typically would offer me a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and on top of all that, would also give a fabulous haircut for just a few dollars more than I was paying these barbershops. Furthermore, she always provided amazing conversations that dealt with real life issues such as family, kids, traveling, faith, marriage, food etc. As I sat in the barbershop chair that day I decided right then and there that my barbershop days were over. It was time to go back to Kelly Stricklin at Fifty Shades of Red. Kelly is truly a breath of fresh air and hands down the best for a plethora of reasons. She is always on time with appointments and makes it so easy to book online. She provides great conversation, has a great sense of humor, and most importantly knows what the customer needs and simply gives an awesome haircut. On top of all that her salon is truly a relaxing environment that caters to your soul while getting a haircut. Kelly is truly a professional while still having a fun and quirky personality that will win you over hands down. Just a few thoughts from a 40 year old, married, father of two who has gone full circle on this whole stylist/barber journey and has finally landed at the best. If you are simply trying to find a great place to get an amazing cut then look no further. Book an appointment with Kelly now, you won't be disappointed."
