Went in for a wash and cut. Pretty simple stuff. I barely wait 5 minutes and a man calls me over. Cool. He didnt know i wanted my hair washed, i had to tell him. He barely had my hair wet before putting a TON of shampoo in it, but he gave me a wonderful head massage so that was great. I tell him i want swooping bangs and my layers blended better. We work on how much I want cut off and I decide on about 3 inches. I noticed he had mostly barbar tools at his counter. No products for womens hair. I found it odd.
Now I am an older person and have been getting my hair cut for a long, long time. He starts with my bangs and the hair above my ears and frames my face. His method was odd but I figured he knew a new method maybe?. He then trims the back of my hair the three inches we agreed on...fine still. He is going slow, but at that point i didn't mind yet.
Then he starts to part my hair and gather it up to do the layers. He is using the wrong style comb and he isnt doing a good job of balancing the scissors and comb and keeps dropping my hair. So next he is fumbling in his drawer for another comb. At this point he is shaking a little and thats when i realize he is not very experienced. He continues to try and layer my hair, but barely cutting any of it. He is literally cutting 1/8th of an inch or less off off my entire head. Pulling my hair, dropping most of what he is supposed to cut. I am positive 75% of my hair never touched scissors.
In the time it takes him to barely trim my hair i watch every other stylist do 3 or more cuts each. I am trying my damndest to make eye contact with any of them, hoping the look on my face would warrant them to help this sweet man. No one comes. I am almost crying now because i dont want to hurt this mans feelings because he is truly trying.
Finally he decides he is done and goes to get the manager to check my hair. GREAT!! Surely she is going to fix it or actually give me the haircut i came in for. She would NOT MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH ME. Now I am furious. She says my hair looks great. Tells the guy great job. Yeah great job for barely trimming my current haircut. He grabs the hairdryer and starts pulling my hair and practically burning my scalp. After shrinking away from him a few times he goes to comb my hair. OMG! He had my hair so tangled he couldnt even get the wide tooth comb through it. I had to make him stop. I told him i was done and would just like to pay.
Went to the counter to pay, it was $18 for a shampoo and trim, well sort of trim. But, ok i just need to go so i can bawl my eyes out. I told him i was leaving him a tip because i liked my shampoo. I then asked him what his managers name was and ahe just happened to walk up (Natalie) then and i told her i barely got a haircut and i came in for a haircut. She said NOTHING!! He apologizes and i felt bad because he needs positive things to happen for him. I told the manager as i was walking out the door she should ask people if they want to have their haircut by an unexperienced person. I didn't have much time and was there over an hour.
So here i sit with my frizzed out hair because my dead ends did not get cut off like i needed. I wish this man worked somewhere else that would help him instead of leaving him to essentially fend for himself. I know i probably shouldnt have kept quiet, but i really didnt want this man to know that i cried from his haircut. The
