I debated for a long time whether or not to post this review but I finally came to the conclusion that I would’ve wanted to know if someone else had a similar experience before I came here.
I was leaving for Florida Thursday morning to attend a wedding and the week of 4th of July another salon badly messed up my color, I walked out very upset and nothing at all what I wanted to look like. So I reached out to HSS super last minute to see if they could fix it. I had read the great reviews and seen color corrections on their Instagram.
I texted the number on a day they were closed (Monday I believe) and they were so courteous and said they could squeeze me in the next day!
So I went in on Tuesday and was warmly greeted by the receptionist. My 1st stylist, Patricia, came out and she wasn’t as pleasant. I sat in her chair and she barely asked me what I wanted to do with my hair before we got started. I felt very uncomfortable and like she didn’t want me there. We were in our own room so there were no other stylists or clients around, which I think might have prevented what she did to my hair. It was awful, she colored the top half brown and underneath it was all a gross blonde. Then she gave me 2 weird stripes at the front of my head. I was so upset but quickly paid and got out of there to check on my baby whom I had left with a new babysitter. Driving home I got a good look at it and I was so surprised that a salon with such a good reputation had let me walk out the door looking like a sad skunk.
I called the salon back as I was parking at my house and expressed how unhappy I was. They tried to talk me out of coming back in because they were booked, but I was so displeased and crying at this point that they let me know to come back in a couple hours later.
Upon my return I was really overwhelmed by how to fix my hair (twice in one week it had been ruined). Lauren H was my stylist that time and she really took lots of time to understand what happened and assured me she would fix it. We took my color back to my natural color to coverup the damage as best we could.
Prior to this week I hadn’t colored my hair in 5 years and it was very very healthy. It wasn’t until I came in for my “color correction” to HSS that it was just damaged beyond anything I’ve ever had. I was extremely disappointed with my first experience there. The second time later that day was full of damage control. The owner refunded me and I could tell they were apologetic. The other stylists were very sorry for what patricia had done to my hair and they couldn’t believe something like that would happen at this salon. I really wish I had Lauren H the first time so that my hair wouldn’t have turned out so awful.
They were lovely for getting me in last minute, but I was overall very sad about my experience here and super upset about how damaged they left my hair. I will now have to start getting conditioning or keratin treatments.
If you go here I would recommend being very very protective of your hair and making sure your stylist takes the time to understand what you want.
I’ve included pictures of what my hair looked like when I went in (maroon top), what Patricia did to me, and how Lauren H brought me back to my dark color.
EDIT: for some reason the pictures I posted of the damage and the coverup are no longer visible
