I am never getting my hair cut at a Great Clips again. A couple months ago I went into a Great Clips in Pismo Beach. The lady who cut my hair was friendly. Since I hadn't had a haircut in over 6 months, there were extra split ends and she let me know that she would be cutting off a couple inches. That was fine. It ended up being more than a couple inches but hairstylists typically do that. I didn't want a blow dry so my hair was still wet when I left the salon. After I went home and my hair was completely dry I realized that the ends were extremely choppy. It looked really bad. But no worries, I went down to the Great Clips in Santa Maria to get it fixed, figuring they would just need to texturize it a bit. (I did NOT want to chance getting the same stylist.) After explaining what happened to the next stylist, she started working on my hair and told me that some people just don't know how to cut thin, blonde hair. Apparently, you can't cut it when it's wet because it is difficult to blend. At least that is what she kept going on about. I was careful about checking my hair out in the front mirror this time and I saw that the ends were still just as jagged. So she called over her supervisor to take a look at me. Almost immediately she showed me in the handheld mirror that one side of my hair was cut shorter than the other side in the back by a full inch. I'm not sure which of the stylists did it but all that mattered to me at that point was to get it fixed. The other stylist proceeded to cut my hair again, this time with a razor. This made the ends much more blended and less blunt. The first stylist remarked, "I didn't even think of that." You would think somebody who claimed to know how to cut my type of hair (which, truly, isn't all that rare) would know the tricks to getting it to blend well. At this point there were a few people sitting in the waiting area. I could tell that the stylists wanted to get to them quickly. They told me they couldn't completely even it out without cutting off even more length. They offered me two free haircuts in the future and sent me on my way. I had lost 7 inches of hair at this point. After about a week of playing around with my much shorter hair I decided that I might as well get bangs and some layers since I had lost so much length. I was so sad about my hair being so short and so flat. I had heard of a great local salon near me so I went there this time. The stylist at this salon spent about an hour on my hair, cutting it both wet and dry. It looked amazing afterwards! How much did I spend at this local salon for a stylist who was experienced and gave my hair close attention? Before tip, it was two dollars more than what they charge at Great Clips. My hair was worth so much more than that. I figured a simple trim wouldn't be so hard but it turns out I can't trust that Great Clip's employees know how to do that well. Fast forward to a couple days ago, my husband needed a haircut. Nothing fancy; he's in the military. I had a $5 off coupon from Great Clips and I still had those 2 free haircuts on my account. I am never going to use those haircuts for myself so I thought I would see if my husband could use them. They said no, but that was alright because we had the coupon. Turns out they wouldn't accept the coupon because it had a letter & number code and not a scannable barcode even though it specifically said it was valid at the Santa Maria location right on the coupon itself. I have had such a bad experience with this company and I cannot recommend enough to get your hair cut somewhere else.

Fast and friendly service. I love their online check in. Waited only a couple minutes to start 2 of the 3 haircuts we checked in for. I love these ladies!!!

From the moment you walk in you're welcomed with friendly smiles and great attitudes. The employees make great conversation and seem to enjoy talking with you. Every time I go in, I know that whoever is cutting my hair knows what they're doing and I trust that it will look great and exactly how I wanted. They always make sure you have everything you need before, during, and after your visit. They always take great pride in their work and take great care of you while you're there.
