Funny how things work out - I was going to meet my girlfriend at Panera next door to return a book I borrowed, and was then going to walk-in to Roots salon and see if they had anything available. So, since I figured that I would spend more time at the salon than the 3 minutes inside Panera - I decided to park in one of Roots' spaces. I got out of my car - and a woman came outside and began to YELL at me and threatened to call the police. I tried to explain that I was going in Panera, and was then going to her establishment, but every time I was explaining WHY I was in her parking spot - she cut me off and did not let me finish. I'm a white gal, maybe not her usual client, - still - SERIOUSLY!!? That is how you are going to treat people? I understand why she was mad, if a bunch of people were parking in her spot and then going into Panera, but at least LISTEN to a person first - you may be taking your day out on a potential new client.
My advice to her, as I am the head of building relationships and engaging with new clients, if you're going to own a business - first develop some intrapersonal skills.
Oh, and my favorite part about this whole exchange? There was at least one other of her reserved parking spots open - because people are clawing to get in there, right?
