I have natural 4C hair. Like several people, I was very hesitant to get my hair straighten (blowout and flat iron). I get my hair straighten about 2x a year mostly only for special events. Well, I visited FL in December, and I decided to straighten my hair at Sunky Salon. I did not have a specific hairdresser, but I decided to stay only because someone address me as soon as I walked through the door (this is a plus in customer service). Esther, although busy with a client, asked how can I help you. After I told her, she gave me directions. The highlight of my experience was when I sat in her chair (I like that she washed and did my hair and not let another hairdresser do my hair). I explained to her my concern about my hair being damage after the blowout and flat iron. I sensed the frustration in her gesture and in her tone of voice when she explained to me what will happen after straightening my hair. Because hairdressers do not like when customers tell them how to do their job or even doubt them. I like to let hairdresser know my concerns so that they are informed. However, I decided to take the emotion away and listen to what she was saying. She informed me that after the first wash some of my hair will be curly and some will be straight, after the second wash it will get curlier and some hair strands will still be straight, etc. Hence, overtime (a month or two) it will gradually become curly but NOT BE HEAT DAMAGE. This was exactly what I experienced, and I am content with the service and result.

NEVER WILL I EVER CIME HERE AGAIN. My mom has been there ever since she was a teenager . She knows sunky and I do too. A lady named Gracie. I called and she answered and I asked her if sunky was there because sunky knows how to do my hair. She knows that I don't need ANYTHING to help straighten my hair. However, sunky was not there . So I said ok and I really wanted my hair my hair done so I said can I come in?. She said yes and then I asked how much it would be to do my hair. She said first I have to come in and for her to see the texture of my hair. She was really serious about it as if she would reject me of I had curly hair. My hair is 3c 4a. It is not hard to do. Comb thoroughly and I will be fine. So I came in to the salon about 20 minutes later and she said come here towards the sink. I had gelled down my hair into a low bun. I got into a seat and she started to wash my hair with some shampoo. The shampoo smelt really good, almost like salon care keratin shampoo. However at the moment I did not notice. She said I had a lot of gel in my hair and said she's going to let the shampoo sit in my hair to get the gel out. Listen to me. I've been washing my hair for a while now when I gel my hair. With one wash the gel comes out. It really isn't that difficult. She said 5 MINUTES ONLY. I ended up waiting 45 minutes. Then I asked her if she's you going to wash this out she said to wait. 5 minutes later THE LADY THAT WAS DOING SOMEONE ELSE HAIR GRACIE, came over and washed it out. Then be a gracie did my hair. However, the lady that washed it, which is not gracie, put a keratin shampoo in my hair. My hair is not revived. I cried because of this. I love my curls, I didn't think wanting a different look would result in such madness. The other lady needs to be fired. CURLY GIRLS BOYCOTT THIS SALON. However, I must say I am disappointed. I know sunky for doing my hair very nice. And my curls to bounce back. This has completely stopped me from coming here.

I will NEVER go to this salon again! I had a terrible experience!!!!! I called and asked if they specialized in natural hair, I was told yes. WRONG! They donâ€™t have a clue what to do with natural hair. I HAD 4c texture natural hair and they completely Damaged my hair. I tried to go back a second time just one week after my first visit, to see if I could get my curls to revert back or to see if they could at least fix my hair and that didnâ€™t happen it was an even worse experience! Then on top of that I called and spoke to sunky and made an appointment with her for HER to do my hair and both times and she never did my hair. And they talk about you in Spanish, I will N E V E R patronize their business again. Thee worst experience I have ever received dealing with a hair salon, never never never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!â€™

I was referred by one of my patients whose hair is ALWAYS flawless! I was DEFINITELY pleased with the results of my hair. The products were AMAZING! I noticed an instant difference. Sunky (the owner) was very informative on the dos & don'ts of caring for my hair. The staff was nice and I was in an out in an hr.
