Sooo I attended this cosmetology school and it was nothing but a scam. Let’s see...where do I start. Silvia isn’t really interested in or concerned with the students education, only how much money they can make her. She would throw us out on the floor to do someone’s hair, even when we would tell her in confidence that we weren’t comfortable because we were never taught how to do it. In most schools you are supposed to have a certain amount of book hours before you can work on the floor...to make sure that you are fully ready to perform on a client’s hair, but at this school, we were all working on clients our very first week and it never stopped. The teacher that we had occasionally, quit so we were really in the dark after that. Silvia is using the money that the state is granting her with for each student, and also pocketing the money they acquire from doing client’s hair. All while not even being accredited. When I attended, she would get Hispanics who didn’t even speak English to attend the school, just to get grant money for them. She would have them in a separate room all day playing on manikin heads just to pass the time by. She didn’t have an interpreter or a real plan for them. She would make us take clients with time consuming styles like box braids or a full sew-in at 4:30, when we were supposed to leave by 5. At the time, I was pregnant and she would make me stay on the floor throughout the lunch break. She just completely under educated and overworked every student. Silvia is very good at silk presses, but that is the only thing she would do all day. Leaving her students with the hard and time consuming styles. I think it’s safe to say that this place wasn’t a school, but a sweatshop!
