We’ve been coming to Great Clips since they opened in this location, five minutes from my house. This week, my wife tried to make an appointment for me to have my hair cut by the same stylist that cut my hair just before Christmas, as I really liked the haircut, by far the best of the last half dozen. She asked the name of the man to book an appointment and was told that that information (his name!) was not available to give out. My wife then said she believed his name was Gregory, and asked if he still worked there. Again she was told it was “against company policy to give out that information.”... to make an appointment!
That’s absolutely asinine. How are you supposed to make an appointment with a preferred stylist? It was implied that we were to drive over and “see if he was there”. Really? That’s what the telephone was invented for. Looking back, a different stylist cut my hair on every visit, so I can only assume that conditions are so bad for employees at Great Clips, that the turnover rate must be astonishingly high.
Well I don’t really care to play Haircut Roulette anymore so I will gladly take my families business (5 haircuts/stylings every six weeks) to a more professional (and sane) salon, even if it’s across town. I will also take the opportunity to tell everyone I know about the bizarre attitudes and poor customer service at Great Clips.
***Response to the lame form letter below from “the owner”***
No one asked for an employees schedule. We were simply trying to make an appointment with a preferred stylist.
If your business model operates under the (false) assumption that your customers want to be surprised by the skill level (or lack there of) of a different employee each and every time they get their hair cut, you’re not only sadly mistaken, but you will rapidly exhaust the supply of new and unwary first time customers. Good luck staying in business with that short term profit mentality.
And thanks for the word for word ‘form letter’ response that you give to every one of the many, many complaints your shoddy practices generate. I will be sure to tell everyone I know and anyone else who’ll listen what a terrible company you are to deal with.
