Haircut was sub standard. I'm a huge Average fan and have been going to Access for years but the cut I had took the lady about 10 min as all she did was trim the ends even though I asked her to re do the layers as my hair is really thick. I came out looking like a 5 yr old version of me. The hairdresser just came across as though she didn't care and wanted to go home. Shame as I've always had great cuts at Aveda. It cost 70 USD for a 20 min cut.......

Huge Aveda fan in general, have been going exclusively to Aveda salons for the past 15 years. But this was the worst salon experience I’ve had in recent memory in regards to customer service.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Athena Aveda. I have been to their previous location on Boylston street, but they've been over at 75 Newbury for about a year now, and this was my first visit to their new salon, as I was visiting for a keratin treatment. They had a great special on a $350 treatment via Groupon for $141, which was a total steal (don't forget to tip on the original amount if you get this deal!) I was lucky enough to have Tyesha as my stylist. She made what can be a tedious, 3 hour process SO fun and interesting as she's a great conversationalist and very smart and attentive when it comes to keratin treatments. After 48 hours, when I washed the keratin out (if you need to learn more details about the process, or why/when to choose keratin, look it up or call the salon!) my hair was able to be blown dry in 10 MINUTES (usually takes 45+!) and was luxurious, smooth, and glossy. I have thick, wavy hair, and lots of it, and it's long, so blowing it out straight always involves a flat iron, product, and lots of patience. Also, my hair won't air dry on its own without keratin unless I wait 3+ hours. With keratin, it'll air dry on its own within 45 minutes to an hour. It makes your hair frizz-free on even the hottest, most humid days--if it's done correctly! Don't hesitate to see Tyesha, or any of the other stylists, for this process. I don't know what may have gone wrong when seeing a previous review that the client washed her hair and it came out frizzy--it's possible that it was a different product or that the person didn't wait the full 48 hours to rinse it. My hair feels like buttah.
