I’ve been coming here for well over ten years and I have always had great service. I’ve been to every stylist, and each one of them goes above and beyond when doing my hair. I am not an easy person to work on, I’m very anxious and I move around, complain about the capes, and always have a million drinks and candies to have during my services. Everyone works around me in that aspect and they don’t bat an eye. There was a new stylist who took my blonde hair to a denim grey color and when we rinsed and blow-dried, it was green! I was so shocked that I cried. He realized that it may have been a chemical reaction from the medications I take and the owner, John, immediately had a color stripping agent put into my hair and the issue was resolved on the spot. John had clients, everyone had clients, but they all took time coming back and fourth to figure out the best solution. It was a busy day before Thanksgiving and they made sure I walked out feeling confident, and I did! They all have also had no issues resolving some not so great choices of color I’ve done on myself at home. Most salons don’t dare touch at home color jobs, or have a scary price point to do so. I’ve never been turned down and I’ve never had to burn any serious holes in my pocket. Even after not coming in for months, or a year, at a time. They are always willing to put in some (serious) work and make me feel great. I will always-and I always do-suggest people come here for their hair needs. Not only hair, but massage and nails too. All around everyone is amazing, accommodating, and helpful. Thanks for years of beautiful hair!

I have been going to John Russell Studio in Whitman for about 3 years now. I have to tell you the minute I walked in the door I was greeted professionally starting with the front desk. Robin was awesome and friendly and made me feel very comfortable as this was my first visit. I had come in with dark brown hair and had been wrestling with going lighter and wanted blonde. I first went to Virginia who sat down with me and did a consult as to what my goal was with my hair. This was going to be a process as going from dark brown to blonde is not an overnight deal it is a process and takes time. I honestly , like everyone wanted the blonde like yesterday as i expressed to Virginia. She consulted John on the process and he explained that yes it would take time but I would eventually get there. Of course you could go somewhere else and maybe do it sooner but your hair would be fried and dried out. The best way for me and my hair was to take Johns advice. Well sad for me Virginia did end up retiring part way through my changes with my hair and John who is the owner of the studio took over. Now it’s 2 years later and not only do I love my hair and the process. I feel I made a new friend. John is caring and listens to your concerns and what you want to do. He spends the time with you to make sure you leave the salon happy. I am impressed with John and his staff and definitely recommend them.

So my experiences here in the past were wonderful but last sunday had a very important event coming up and I wanted to do a beautiful ombre in my hair. I have a purple in my hair which I myself have gotten out many times before but because this woman was rushing me she said she couldn't do it she then does highlights which isn't what I wanted while doing the highlights it seemed as if she was insulting me saying my hair was a mess. When I addressed to my stylist I did not like it she did nothing but say "well just put it up" I spent 136$ to just have my hair up. I then go to the front desk woman and again nothing was done to help me when prior to this appointment I was told if I didn't like it they'd fix it for me...I sat and waited for my parent who had the money when I told them he'd be here soon the woman who did my hair said sarcastically "I love people" my father's girlfriend who had called got yelled at because they said they were booked up when what I saw was the woman who did my hair just sat at the front desk talking it up not taking more clients (which means she DID have time to at least try and fix my hair) she had no clients come in at all she lied to my father about how i told her I wanted highlights. when I even showed her a picture of the ombre and told her excactly what I wanted. I walked out of this hair salon crying and feeling ugly because of what was said and how I was treated. I now have to deal with this hair I cry at Everytime I look at it i can't even look in the mirror and I no longer will trust this salon again.
