I had the most uncomfortable haircut at this establishment; It was a very bizarre encounter. I was sitting in the waiting area listening to my stylist cheerfully chat up an older gentleman. When I came over I was a little delayed because I still had my winter coat and hat on (as it was a very cold day) and I had to hang them up. I forgot my phone in my coat, and I went to go retrieve it to show the stylist an older photo of myself with the length of hair I desired. When I returned to the station the stylist's whole demeanor had changed. She was so cold to me to the point of rudeness. She was hate cutting my hair! I could feel her contempt for me, her job, life in general... who knows? She seemed angry and her face was a sulk. I had no idea why. I was so stunned and confused because good bedside manner is a hair stylist's bread and butter. She did not engage me or smile. She glared throughout the whole interaction and spoke in a monotone. I have been racking my brain to think what I could have possibly done to offend her and warrant this uncomfortable hate-cut. Had I offended her by texting on my phone in the lobby? Taken too long to get to her chair? The political stickers on my coffee mug (planned parenthood and a rainbow)? I can't think of a legitimate grievance she could have with me. I tried to lighten the mood by saying "ah this feels much better" and "thank you" but she just remained silent and only spoke to me when she absolutely needed to. It was such a baffling interaction and especially when contrasted to what I witnessed with the client before me. He was met with a friendly smile and cheerful small talk; why not me? I've been getting my haircut all my life and I've never had a more unfriendly encounter with a stylist. I don't necessarily relish small talk with strangers either, but I at least expect the basic level of friendliness and warmth. Once again, I could feel her mystery contempt as she sulked and glared through the entire haircut seemingly unprovoked. The haircut was fine; I just needed a trim. Anyway... that was my experience with the Great Clips on Haggerty in Livonia. It was the weirdest and most uncomfortable haircut I've ever had.
