I walked in and politely said hello to the stylist at the counter. She blankly stares at me and then redirects her eyes back to her computer. I didn’t realize there was women, a client, behind the counter asking for the stylist to look up some info. Regardless, I have worked in retail for most of my life and I have never not said hello back to someone who has said it to me. And I the look she gave me was so unnecessarily rude. After she finished up not answering the question the women had behind the counter. She asked me what I was getting. I said just a cut. She then very upsetly looked at my hair and then looked back at me ( my hair was in a big bun). Look, I understand I have a lot of hair that is why I am getting a hair cut. But for you to look at me as if your eyes are saying “Ugh” was horrible.
The women says she will be with me in a minute and goes and grabs a coffee, which is fine. But she comes back, asks me to go to the sink. I let my hair out and she comes over and asks me again “what are you getting” and I say “a cut”. She than says “I don’t know if I can do that”. If you want it straight across that’s fine but anything else I can’t do. Your hairy is too kinky, which quite frankly it is. I have an afro. I’m of Puertican descent my hair is different. And normally I would have just said I just want a straight cut. Which is how I have been getting it for years, at all the other Lemon trees I have been to. It’s never been problem. I’m 30. That’s a lot of hair cuts. But given her horrible attitude upon me walking in and her looks. I said “it’s fine” “I won’t get my hair cut ” and she said you “can come back tomorrow there is a girl who knows how to cut curls”. I said “that’s okay” I appreciate that she was honest in talking about her skill set. But her overall demeanor was horrible. I don’t recommend going here. At least not on a Sunday.
