Honestly I wish there was a 0 star option because I didn't feel an ounce of positive emotion in regards to my experience here. On one hand, I should have expected it because I'm going to a business that supplies cheap haircuts done by overworked, underpaid, and occasionally inexperienced hair stylists. They honestly deserve so much better. But on the other hand, there's no way I could have expected what I experienced having my hair done here, and the stylist responsible does not deserve anything better than this job, in fact, he shouldn't have even been working there in the first place. He was so incredibly inexperienced it's as if he hadn't even gone to any sort of school for this. And I'm not exaggerating. I'm not someone who likes to complain about stuff all the time, I'm normally a very nice and amiable person who's empathetic to a fault at times and usually too anxious to complain even when something is really upsetting me. And don't worry, I didn't throw a fit or anything, but I certainly wanted to. I go in, get seated, and I show the guy a photo of what I wanted. He laughs nervously and immediately something clicks in my head that he doesn't want to do this. Everything about him exudes an aura of "I don't want to be here." Almost to an extent that makes me feel like I'm a burden for wanting my hair done in the first place. I honestly should have spoken up and asked if he could do it and if I could have someone else do it if he couldn't, but I'm a pushover and I don't stand up for myself so I let him go at it. It's nothing too complicated, it's basically a pixie that's long and choppy on top and shorter on the sides (almost an undercut but not quite). And I've never gone to hair school, I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to hair cutting, but I tell him I want my hair to be layered and tapered down so the length transitions from long to short smoothly. He looks at me like I'm an alien. I reword it as best as I can and he still doesn't understand. I tell him to forget it and do what he thinks he can do, because again, I'm an idiot and I should've just said hey I don't wanna be a bother if you can't do it, don't worry about it. Anyway he asks me how short I want the shortest part of my hair to be and I say a 4 or 5. He shaves it down to a 2, whatever, not a big deal, I've shaved my head before and it doesn't bother me too much so I don't say anything but I should've because there's all these red flags going off that I keep ignoring and pushing past. And then he starts "visualizing" how he's going to do the top, and he asks me how long I want my bangs to be. I tell him above my eyes and up to above my eyebrow. Like sideswept right? Angled? He gives me straight across bangs like a bowl cut. And I am thrown into full-blown panic mode at this point. I am so lucky that the stylist next to me, who all the while was giving him tips and directions as if he was a student, is finished with her client because I wouldn't have had the courage to speak up and ask for someone else to take over for him. I should've done it so much sooner but I'm still so proud of myself for opening my mouth for once in my life because he actually gets someone even more experienced to come over and help him out and she immediately fixes it all up as best as she can. It's still a little bowly-looking when it's not styled (luckily I have pastes and hairspray that help) and it's MUCH shorter than the example, but I can only imagine what it would have looked like if I let him do whatever the heck he was doing. I almost feel bad because he was obviously nervous and floundering, and I can totally relate because I hate not knowing what I'm doing at work and not feeling confident and feeling like an idiot, but then again, he was brooding like a teenager and was much more incompetent than someone you expect to have gone to school for this job. Like as if he was still a student. So I hope he learned his lesson and asks for help next time. Or maybe chooses a different job. Not naming names but don't get your hair cut by the guy with the Mohawk and the beard!
