I enjoyed Shear madness so much, I went back to see it after having seen it last year. It is one of the longest running non musicals in theatre history, and that's saying something. It opened at the Kennedy Center in Washington in August of 1987. It's set in a hair salon in the city where it is playing. Therefore the dialogue consists of references to that city. So in DC there are political references. There is an unseen murder so all in the hair salon are suspects. The audience plays a big part in solving the murder. In Act One the audience asks questions of the police. In Act two the audience votes on who they think the killer is. It is much fun. And, by the way, if you've never been to the Kennedy Center you need to go. Shear Madness will be playing there probably as long as you live.
