I never write reviews and I have never been so disappointed with a haircut - I went to Anthony. Attached are the picture I showed him and then what I came away with. For context, my hair started off shorter than the model in the picture to begin with, but it was past my shoulders and a little below the collarbone in front. I told him I liked the layers in the picture and the angle between the back and front. I told him I wanted the back to come up “a little bit†from my current length and I wanted the front to get “a trim.â€
He made the first cut in the back without checking with me and he took about six inches off. I was concerned but felt locked into trusting him at that point since he had already made such a huge cut. When he got closer to done I stopped him and said it wasn’t what we discussed, it didn’t look like the picture, and it was egg shaped. His solution was to cut more to texturize it. He kept saying that the back needed to come up that far to achieve the dramatic angle I’d asked for, but as you can see by the time he finished layering and texturizing that angle is not dramatic at all, only a couple inches, which is the differential I’d walked in with.
In the end, he cut about four inches off the length in the front and six in the back, and that’s talking on the longest layer. The short ones are much shorter. It will literally take me years to grow it back to what it was before. You get what you pay for, I guess, but I have gotten haircuts in the city at a range of price points and never had such a terrible outcome. My head looks like a Q-tip. Please please never go here.
