I bought a Groupon for a double haircut and deep conditioning treatment at this Shoreline location. On checking the actual prices, I was pleased to find out that their haircuts are very reasonable even at full price. I and my friend went to the location for the double treatment after making a reservation. On arriving there, I was told at the counter that they could accommodate only one of us, even though I made it clear to them over the phone that I had a Groupon for a double treatment session. They made no effort to squeeze me in with my friend and suggested we come back the next week. Their manner was very matter-of-fact and not in the least apologetic about the inconvenience caused.
When we finally did go, my friend received a plain Jane cut, a little under her expectations of the place. Clients are attended to by students and once they finish, their work on you is assessed and proofed by an instructor - an unfriendly senior woman. My hairstylist was a young woman, who was polite and courteous but extremely under-confident. She struck up conversation with me and kept talking about how she never wanted to become a stylist but a nail technician instead. How am I supposed to relax around a person who's cutting my hair but hates her job? I felt very uncomfortable even as she took more than an hour to finish up my haircut, quite hesitant to make snips all along. At the end, her instructor came along and made much needed finishing touches.
I would give this place two stars for cleanliness and affordability but it misses three stars for professionalism, clarity while making reservations, and a pampering experience.
I suggest making your double sure of your booking, requesting for an experienced student, and being very meticulous about what you are looking for in your treatment. I had a sour experience, but not everyone will.
