Crows Nest Barbershop was born in a Kensington Market basement in Toronto. It began as a place where a couple of us could hone our craft the only way we knew how, through hard work & creative expression. From there, very organically, we grew from one shop, to a bigger shop, to two shops, and three shops, and so on into a home we can all be proud of.

As a bearded man I'm on a mission to discover the best barbershop tailored to men like myself. As my first stop, I tried Crows Nest today. My appointment was with Sarah. I spent 30 min and paid $33.90 + 15% tip. This is place was NOT what I had hoped for. I have to say the location is nice, just at the mouth of Kensingston. It has too many religious symbols for my taste. Cobwebs were visible in the corners of the ceiling, as I was laid back most of the time. The chair was broken and the hot towels were stiff (as I found out, from yesterday). I wanted a trim and not a shave and I can't understand why I had to lie back down. It was uncomfortable and unsettling not being able to see the trim as it progressed. As for the trim itself, she did the cheek lines well and can fix any previous mistakes. The rest of the beard ... not so much. After the trim, she did not clean the clippings off of me and I ended up with hair all over my pants ... going to the office.

Very chill barbershop located within the Kensington market. The shop itself has an online booking system making it easy to set up a same day cut or for in advance. Had a cut with Mac, a really easy going and talented barber that produced a great haircut. Bonus points for the soulful music!!!

I must've passed by this place at least 3 times when I was in Kensington, but the place is great. The inside looks sick, with the mix of custom decks and pictures of Jesus around, the barbers are cool and I got a fresh cut that I never would imagine getting, or thinking would look THAT great on me. I'd recommend the place.

I've been growing my beard for the past while, and so far the previous two places I went for a trim screwed it up. Crow's Nest was not an exception. I had an already shaped beard (rectangular), and I clearly asked it just be straightened/trimmed. I was laid back for the first half of the trim, which was quite uncomfortable. He ended up rounding my beard, and taking so much off in the wrong places. I'm absolutely furious he removed the entire shape of my beard. This is going to take 2 months to re-grow, at least! I just can't believe it. In fact, he even did what I specifically told him not to do. Literally, one side of my beard is completely off from the other - my beard was symmetrical before the trim. (I should've known when I showed him a picture and he said it was photoshoped. No. It was a screen capture from a live video.) I even used hand gestures of how to trim it. This is not going to be a top stop for me. If you don't know how to do beards, refuse doing them.

GREAT barbershop. Good dudes, great cuts, relaxed atmosphere. Probably the most enjoyable haircut I've ever had. If I lived around here, I'd never go anywhere else for my cuts. You shouldn't either. Big ups to Joel and the rest of the crew.
