I have been coming to Hair Friends over 9 years. The reason? Bill is an expert stylist up on the latest trends. He has an acute awareness of what style will fit your personality and enhance your looks. Bess & Glen are wonderful experienc stylists who always deliver satisfied customers. They offer a full round of services from coloring, frosting to waxing. These people are accomadating in every way and make you feel special. There is always coffee & tea & snacks of some sort available to enjoy.the shop has an interesting ambiance. The brick walls are lined with a rotating selection of Bill's artistic photographs. He is a professional artist with many shows under his belt. He also has a collection of antique memorabilia. There music is always playing & its cool sounds fill the space relaxing. There are stairs to climb so not for the more handicapped individuals. Parking is along the street and I usually can find a spot right on Oakland Ave. Walk ins are accepted but reservations are a smart idea especially.

I have been coming to see Glen for 5+ years. Extremely knowledgeable, competent, and friendly. Best hair place in Oakland. A+++

I needed to find a place for a nice haircut here in the city. I chose Hair Friends because of their ratings and reviews. I called ahead of time to double check that they take walk-in amd I was in luck. I went to the salon and I was greeted by a four legged friend, which in my mind is a win. They two dogs are only there on Tuesdays so do not let that deter you if you are not a dog person. Glenn was the gentleman who cut my hair and he was great at asking questions in order to ensure that bother parties are on the same page. Overall, I am thrilled with the cut I received and absolutely plan on returning for future haircuts.

Super salon, been customer for more years than I'd like to admit. 😁 Owner is also a photographer and has a unique eye for style. Wouldn't think of going anywhere else, how could I when I always get compliments on my tresses?

I have never had a better hair stylist than Glen! I have thick curly hair that can be difficult to work with. I just showed him a picture of what I wanted and he did it perfectly! Now he is my go to stylist. I'd highly recommend this place. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful.
