I usually try to find good things to say and write positive reviews, but I can't in this case. First complaint...I did not feel welcomed. You would think a salon with a new customer would go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. When I walked in I said I had a crack in a nail and asked the owner if someone could fix it. He asked if it was gel but never gave me an answer. While my hair color was on, I used my own nail file to try to fix the problem...he saw me and still never asked me if he could have one of his people fix the problem. Second, and while I admit to having high standards as I get my hair done by a very well-known (on TV) salon in NYC, the colorist at Big City seemed to want to rush me through the process. I have long thick hair and very gray roots but the colorist took only about 3 minutes to apply the color with a squeeze bottle, and she applied in a very haphazard motion to the hair...which is a problem because you can miss small sections...and she did. For comparison, the other colorists I have been to take about 15 minutes to apply and use a brush to ensure all the roots are covered. When I got home I found a few gray roots showing, in the front near my hairline. I am very disappointed, will never go there again even though it is very close to where I live. Other observation, with only 2 sinks, I had to wait and others with color had to wait for their shampoos.

I hate to disagree with all the other reviews, but I just didnt see what was so great about this place. I recently moved to the area and always shop at whole foods, so I figured I would give the place a try. Perhaps I started off on the wrong foot: when I called for an appointment a man answered and said everything would be fine. I was going to get a hair cut and style with mani/pedi. However when I arrived, there was no record of my appointment so I had to wait about 1/2 hour for them to find someone to cut my hair. A younger lady cut my hair with a heavy hand. I asked for just a trim of my long layers, but ended up with short whispy bangs on one side. The manicure lady was very chatty and unprofessional. My french manicure lines were visibly freehanded. I could do a better manicure in my own home! The haircut cost me 55 which is way too much for a strip mall. The place is cramped and a majority of the customers are over the age of 60. Nothing wrong with that, but from the name and other reviews I was expecting something more. I come from an actual big city where 40 bucks plus tip will give you a fabulous cut and style. Looks like I will keep looking for my new salon.
